Currently, One Nevada is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Bank Secrecy Act Officer that will monitor suspicious activity and ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC regulations as well as other areas of regulatory compliance.

Compliance and Audit: 80%

  • Monitors OFAC compliance to ensure member accounts are properly blocked and reported;
  • Researches 314(a) requests received under the USA Patriot Act;
  • Works with the Training Department to coordinate BSA training programs to educate credit union personnel about compliance related policies and procedures;
  • Assists with the review of legal documents (ie: powers of attorney, guardianships, etc.) and coordinates action with legal counsel and the Senior Vice President Risk Management;
  • Maintains certification as a BSA Officer;
  • Monitors employee accounts, including negative balances and delinquent loans, and takes action as appropriate to include written notification to management;
  • Performs investigations related to employee defalcations;
  • Represents the credit union in various professional organizations;
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act and all related anti-money laundering and OFAC regulations;
  • Monitors suspicious activity on member accounts and conducts investigations to ensure required reports (SARs) are filed as required under the Bank Secrecy Act using the Verafin software program;
  • Prepares and files CTRs as required under the Bank Secrecy Act using the Verafin software program;
  • Reviews daily reports as assigned.

Administrative: 20%

  • Proofreads final copy for grammatical accuracy and adherence to proper format, spelling, punctuation, and conformance to established administrative procedures, and verifies data as requested;
  • Maintains confidentiality of all sensitive material in an attempt to preserve and maintain the department's integrity and professionalism;
  • Creates letters, memos, and other correspondence as needed;
  • Performs special assignments or undertakes research projects in accordance with specific guidelines established by the Senior Vice President Risk Management; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned;

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements for credit unions;
  • Thorough knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC regulations;
  • Thorough knowledge of BSA/AML monitoring software such as Verafin;
  • Knowledge of general lending regulations, policies, and procedures;
  • Thorough knowledge of teller operations;
  • Knowledge of software packages to improve the scope and efficiency of regulatory compliance;
  • Ability to think and act independently using discretion and tact;
  • Ability to serve as a credible resource to both management and staff;
  • Ability to conduct and prioritize a variety of assigned projects simultaneously;
  • Skill in the operation of a personal computer, to include Internet/Intranet, operating system, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, calendar, and scheduling software;
  • Ability to conduct thorough research of member transactions;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of employees;
  • Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to maintain regularly scheduled attendance; and
  • Must be able to relate appropriately to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions: (a) can get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes; (b) perform work activities requiring negotiating, instruction, and communicating with others; and (c) respond appropriately to constructive feedback from a supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or GED equivalent plus two years of experience in compliance, auditing, branch operations or a closely related field, preferably in a financial institution. NCCO, ACAMS, or NCBS designation or similar professional certification desired.
