Description:

The Network Engineer is responsible for solving technical issues, deploying, configuring, and upgrading network equipment, managing firewall changes, ensuring network security and providing end user support. This position will collaborate with other departments and vendors to plan, design, implement and oversee all network services including wireless, virtual private networking (VPN), remote access, firewall, Internet, switching and routing, for all locations.

What You Will Do
- Respond to Service Requests related to network or firewall modifications such as creating firewall rules for allowing access, blocking URLs, creating NAT policies, or updating switchport vlans
- Troubleshoot IT infrastructure technologies, including network issues with wireless, firewall and Internet access
- Support local and remote users via IT Support ticketing systems, email, Slack, phone or video conference calls
- Effectively communicate and coordinate with other departments and vendors
- Demonstrate the ability to see the big picture versus just executing specific tasks
- Anticipate potential problems and develop contingency plans in advance
- Hold yourself accountable to commitments with little or no guidance
- Maintain network infrastructure such as switches, firewalls, routers, wireless access points, Internet circuits, server rooms, and network closets
- Ensure network security by upgrading firmware and software on network devices as well as making configuration changes per security best practices and Information Security policies
- Create Method-Of-Procedure (MOP) documents for change requests and participate in peer reviews
- Document the design, operation, and troubleshooting of network platforms and procedures in tools like Confluence, Visio and Sharepoint
- Create and update network infrastructure performance reports and dashboards in tools like DataDog, ThousandEyes and ExtraHop
- Participate in Daily Scrum and Sprint Planning meetings

What You Will Bring
- 3+ years of experience providing Tier 2 or higher network technical support with the ability to work independently to effectively triage complex technical issues
- 3+ years of hands-on experience deploying, configuring and upgrading Cisco network switches and routers
- 2+ years of Firewall security policy, network address translation (NAT), remote user virtual private network (VPN), Site-to-Site VPN configuration and troubleshooting experience
- 2+ years of complex multi-firewall management platform experience (Palo Alto Networks Panorama preferred)
- 2+ years of experience configuring and troubleshooting Enterprise Wireless
- Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to effectively interact with users to understand their needs and explain complex technical information in a clear and respectful manner
- Good understanding of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) fundamentals, subnetting, Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and network troubleshooting
- Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) configuration and troubleshooting experience
- Packet capture analysis experience and familiarity with tools such as Wireshark or tcpdump
- Automation experience such as Ansible or Terraform preferred
