POSITION SUMMARY:

The Summer Slope Maintenance Tech will perform a variety of job duties in order to enhance Winter Park's world-class mountain trail system. This is an outside job utilizing both hand tools and heavy equipment. Duties include support for capital improvement projects, storm water management, noxious weed control, revegetation, tree removal, trail mowing, road and general slope maintenance. The position requires working within a team environment and maintaining a positive attitude throughout the season.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Participate in daily meeting to understand the ongoing projects
  • Collect necessary tools to complete assigned tasks
  • Ensure all tools are in good condition and be proficient in their use
  • Vehicle operation to include company trucks and UTV's
  • Know the mountain roads, locations and travel routes
  • Work on a variety of slope maintenance projects
  • Hand tool operation such as rakes, shovels, drills, chainsaws
  • Equipment operation such as front-end loaders, excavators, graders, mowers
  • Operate weed control spraying equipment
  • Work in a safe manner to avoid injury to self or coworkers
  • Work in a safe manner to avoid damage to company equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Valid, non-restricted motor vehicle driver's license
  • Class A commercial driver's license, preferred
  • Heavy equipment experience, preferred
  • Minimum 2 years snowmaking or snow grooming experience, preferred
  • Chainsaw experience, preferred
  • Reliable transportation to/from work at hours outside normal business hours
  • Punctuality and ability to meet assigned work schedule


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • This position may be required to work weekends and holidays during the summer season.
  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 60 pounds on an occasional basis, and a minimum of 20 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Manual dexterity to operate hand tools such as rakes, shovels, and basic carpentry tools.
  • Ability to work outside in ANY AND ALL weather conditions, including but not limited to rain, snow, sleet, high winds, and cold temperatures.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.

WAGE:

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of Winter Park Resorts hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Winter Park Resorts total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.

Hourly pay range: $20.50-$24.50 DOE
