Sr. Manager, Capital Markets & Risk - Capital Advisory

Responsible for Capital Advisory support of the Commercial line of business, as part of the Capital Resilience & Analytics team. The Commercial Capital Advisor is responsible for the capital allocation framework we apply to the ~$90B of assets in our Commercial portfolio and the complementary dynamic capital framework used for new origination decisions. Manage cross-functional relationships with business, finance, risk, capital stress testing, regulatory, legal and accounting teams that also support Commercial. Advise senior business stakeholders to help them navigate complex capital rules and understand the capital implications of their strategic decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Allocate capital across Commercial portfolios to help the business understand relative differences in capital need and returns
• Design and guide the implementation of capital assignment in Commercial pricing models to inform decision making for new originations
• Design and guide the implementation of capital framework to support new business initiatives in securitizations and derivatives areas
• Ensure accuracy of reported capital metrics
• Monitor and diagnose capital metrics changes across Commercial portfolios
• Evaluate potential impacts to capital need driven by changes in regulatory requirements, portfolio mix shift and market dynamics
• Present key changes and insights related to capital need to senior management
• Hold frequent interactions with the key members of capital management, capital stress testing, Commercial finance and business teams

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or military experience
• At least 5 years of experience in financial modeling & analysis, or business analytics
• At least 3 years of experience in capital, financial markets, or commercial asset classes
• At least 2 years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Financial Engineering, Economics, or other quantitative field of study
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts in practical terms
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to clearly present ideas and draw appropriate conclusions

• 5+ years of experience in capital related areas, including but not limited to CCAR stress testing, capital risk management, capital allocation
• 5+ years of experience in Commercial pricing and origination decision making
• 5+ years of experience in Commercial credit risk and products
• 3+ years of experience in securitizations, options and derivatives

• 2+ years of experience leading discussions across functions to ensure clarity around business direction and strategy
• Experience influencing senior level management, and developing strong relationships with both internal and external partners
• Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) license

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $199,100 - $227,200 for Sr. Manager, Capital Markets & Risk

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
