Greenfield Contractors LLC is a general contractor serving the Midwest region, specializing in tension fabric and metal buildings. We are an industry leader and complete approximately 150 projects each year. Our industry is in its infancy and poised for further growth in many market sectors.

Greenfield Contractors need several Installation Technicians Fabric & Metal – Illinois and Iowa! Position is overtime eligible and will be 40+ hours per week. Typical workdays are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., although there may be changes based upon project requirements. The typical work week consists of 40 hours but will flex to 60 hours during busy periods or as the projected schedule dictates.

Position requires travel 40 to 50 weeks per year. Most construction crews will be on the jobsite up to a week at a time, but home most weekends. Work will be performed throughout Illinois, Iowa, and surrounding states with some projects requiring overnight travel. When overnight travel is required, accommodation and meal per diem is included. Crews meet at the shop daily or weekly as required and travel to and from the jobsite via company truck. One way drive time is paid for travel from the shop to the jobsite.

Pay based on experience and demonstrated ability to perform duties of this position. We offer a competitive construction bonus (estimated time to complete job versus actual hours to complete job).

Position Objective: The successful candidate will install and repair fabric or metal buildings. As a fabric or metal building installation technician, you will primarily be involved in all aspects of building erection. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated and detail oriented.

Essential Duties

  • Affix and Position Fabric or Metal Buildings in a Designated Location and Complete the Set-Up
  • Process so the Fabric or Metal Building is Ready to Serve Its Purpose
  • Ensure the Building is Installed in a Safe Manner that Doesn’t Present any Hazards While also
  • Supporting Functionality to Allow for the Best Possible Performance
  • Provide Ongoing Support, Maintenance, and Repairs
  • Ensure Safety, Quality, and Efficiency
  • Carry Material
  • Unloading, Material Handling, and Staging
  • Install Columns, Mainframes, Girts, Purlins, Etc.
  • Roof and Wall Sheeting
  • Insulation Installation
  • Gutter and Downspout Installation
  • Framing and Install of Windows and Doors
  • Maintain Tools and Equipment in Safe Working Order
  • Completion of Project Within the Allotted Time Frame
  • Assist with Inventory as Needed
  • Maintain and Repair Buildings
  • Inspect and Diagnose Problems and Figure Out the Best Way to Correct Them
  • Assemble and Set Up Necessary Machinery or Equipment
  • Use Blueprints or Diagrams
  • Minor Concrete Work, Wood Post and I-Beam Foundations, Steel Erection, and Other Associated
  • Construction Type Tasks
  • Ability to work in High Places

Education/Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Any Combination of Education, Training and Experience that Provides the Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities to Perform the Essential Functions of the Position
  • OSHA 10 Hour Safety Training Course (Within 3 Days of Hire)
  • 1 – 3 Months Prior Construction Experience

Competency Requirements

  • Prior Experience in the Building Trades is Valuable
  • A Valid Driver’s License, or the Ability to Obtain One (Within 90 Days of Hire)
  • Must Have Reliable Transportation to Meet at the Jobsite, Shop, or Centralized Meeting Place
  • DOT Physical & Drug Test
  • Basic Math, Writing, and Communication Skills
  • Establish and Maintain Interpersonal Relationships
  • Communicate with Supervisors and Peers
  • Organize, Plan, and Prioritize Work
  • Communicate with Persons Outside the Organization

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent Lifting/Pulling/Pushing up to 25 Pounds
  • Regular Lifting/Pulling/Pushing up to 50 Pounds
  • Occasional Lifting/Pulling/Pushing Up to and Over 100 Pounds
  • Frequent Reaching, Reaching Overhead, Grasping, Standing, Walking, Sitting, Stooping or Crawling, and Climbing
  • Operates Construction Power Tools

Work Environment

Moderate Exposure to Moving Machinery, Dust, Outdoor Weather Conditions, and Loud Noise Occasional Exposure to Extreme Heat, Extreme Cold, Humidity/Water, Toxic Chemicals or Fumes, and Electricity/Risk of Electric Shock

 Equipment

Frequent Use of Steel-Toe Boots, Tape Measure, Power Tools, Tool Belt, and Pouches Regular Use of Speed Square, Skid Steer, Scissor Lift, Boom Lift, Forklift, Telehandler, and Backhoe Occasional Use of Hammer and Pliers
