ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Inspect, marks and record all railroad bridges, tunnels, culverts, embankments and any other structures identified

* Assists in the ongoing maintenance and repair activities with crews

* Additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Must have a minimum of three (3) years' recent experience working with bridge inspection or repair within the railroad industry

* Knowledgeable in Bridge Maintenance requirements

* Knowledgeable in FRA Regulations and AREMA standards

* Ability to supervise bridge and structure renewals and inspections

* Ability to perform bridge inspections

* Ability to perform installation, adjustment, modification, or needed repairs of bridge/structure equipment

* Ability to read and understand bridge and structure plans

* Ability to travel extensively

* High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent work experience.

* Valid Drivers License

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

* Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries.

* Wear protective equipment including hearing protection, safety steel-toe boots, or safety glasses.

* Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek, including on-call 7 days a week, 24 hours per day, with extended periods of time away from home and short rest between assignments in accordance with the hours of service regulation.

* Medium to heavy work, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 80 pounds.

* Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/crawl/balance/climb.

* Work in cramped, confined, enclosed, or awkward places.

* Walk long distances over uneven terrain.

* Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
