Job Title: AV Technology Support Specialist Qualifications

Job Duties:
Customer Service and AV Support Technician - 50%
* Works proactively with Event Manager and Facility Coordinators to provide a high level of technology support and service.
* Provide "on demand" tech support for users in RFSS conference rooms.
* Serve as the point of contact for all conference room technology issues, repairs, maintenance, service & support.
* Communicate with customers and Facility Coordinators concerning the affected repairs and maintenance services performed.
* Follow-up with users post trouble calls to ensure satisfaction with solution provided.
* Provide training for customers and RFSS team members on all audio-visual equipment.
* Undertake reasonable ad-hoc requests from customers regarding audio visual equipment and event presentation.
* Operate audio visual equipment during events and meetings with the aim to provide high quality production standards. Best efforts will be made to ensure all sites are connected on time, fully tested, and receiving/transmitting good audio/video for a quality production.

Technology Maintenance and Repair - 30%
* Develop increased skill level in isolating and determining best practice repair methods for increasingly complex presentation equipment operations, repair and maintenance.
* Provide routine technology testing and preventative maintenance for all conference rooms and event spaces in RFSS portfolio.
* Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform repair work of audiovisual equipment according to industry standards with minimal disruption to users.
* Assist in relocating reservations to alternate locations to accommodate equipment repair timeline.
* Inspect conference rooms and event spaces for damage, cleanliness, and document issues to be addressed.
* Create and update equipment records, track usage, and make minor adjustments and/or repairs to equipment when necessary. Create tickets for repair and liaise with internal or external vendors to ensure all malfunctioning equipment is repaired in a timely manner.
* Order, receive, and check delivery of all audio/visual equipment and parts in line with organizational policy.
* Provide Schlage lock system support, including keeping the PDA updated with the latest software and key assignments.
* Manage electronic display postings via the Carousel system.
* Provide recommendations to support the planning of future AV equipment upgrades.

Administrative and other - 20%
* Develop user guidelines and general documentation for use by customers, staff, and students.
* Create effective troubleshooting steps for AV capable rooms for customers to refer to during use.
* Coordinate proper completion and submission of all work associated with assignments, audits and repairs in accordance with established procedures.
* Establish and maintain equipment database for all RFSS audio visual equipment.
* Set-up and document trouble/service calls in a tracking database.
* Perform audits of access devices and security cameras.
* Execute special event furniture configurations, including set-up & re-setting furniture.
* Coordinate all departmental NTS requests for data, phone etc.
* Participate as an active contributing member on all assigned team projects.
* Support University Community by providing event/meeting support when schedule allows and is approved by RFSS Event Manager.
* Prepare Maintenance and service invoices for non-RFSS departments for services rendered. Track and report invoice receipts to Event Manager on a monthly basis.
* Track service hours for annual budgetary reporting purposes.
* Support RFSS team in the installation of the Oceasoft alarm monitory systems project.

Flexible hours and occasional weekend/weeknight work will be required to provide event/meeting support


Qualifications


Required Qualifications:
* High School Graduation plus at least two years of trade school education or other training in electronics with at least one year of recent experience. An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be substituted.
* Ability to lift and carry 60lbrs, bend, kneel and climb ladders.
* Ability to incorporate new technology concepts and procedures into daily assigned repair and maintenance activities.
Preferred Experience:
* Highly computer literate and comfortable with both Windows PC and Mac computers.
* Experience with AMX, Cisco, Zoom, web conferencing applications, audio systems, signal flow, switching systems, etc.
* Experience with MS office, Adobe, and Google Aps.
* Verbal and written communication skills necessary to work with a wide variety of knowledge and skill levels.
* Experience with installations, repair, and maintenance of conferencing technologies.

About the Job:
This position interacts directly with faculty, students, staff, department personnel, and external clients to provide a variety of audio visual (AV) support for lectures, seminars, presentations, and special events in conference rooms and event spaces spread throughout facilities supported by Research Facilities Support Services. This position will be responsible for assisting with the proper installation and maintenance of all audiovisual equipment systems in our portfolio, diagnosing and implementing proper repair procedures for all non-functioning audiovisual equipment, the delivery of outstanding customer service, event support and responding to emergency/ad-hoc issues and requests. This position reports directly to the RFSS Event & Student Administration Manager and our customers to ensure consistency of delivery for all customers utilizing conference rooms and event spaces managed by RFSS.
