SR Electrical Reliability engineer

Perform Engineering duties by applying principles, knowledge, and
practices of electrical power distribution for timely identification,
analysis, and resolution of electrical related issues to ensure safe,
reliable, and cost-efficient plant operations. The Sr. Electrical
Reliability Engineer also utilizes current and new industry accepted
developments to improve plant performance and reliability, which
includes initiating and developing electrical distribution modifications
and new projects.

Essential Job
Functions_______________________________________________________________________

  • Provide competent coverage for issues concerning low, medium, and
high voltage electrical systems including switch gear, motor control
centers, transformers, VFDs, UPS Systems, DC Systems, and
electrical safety.
  • Owner of site single line electrical drawing updates and changes.
  • Leads site arc flash analysis and evaluates changes in electrical
infrastructure to lower risk and ensure safety.
  • Leads improvements in electrical infrastructure by developing and
managing multi-year capital project plans.
  • Owner of electrical coordination studies to ensure safety of
electrical systems and personnel. Establishes specifications and
procedures to ensure setting of safety devices are maintained to
protect employees and electrical assets.
  • Works with Maintenance and Project Engineering to ensure the
reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations.
The Sr. Electrical Reliability Engineer is responsible for adhering
to theLife Cycle Asset Management (LCAM)process throughout the
entire life cycle of new assets.
  • Participates in the development of design and installation
specifications along with commissioning plans.
  • Participates in the development criteria for evaluation of equipment
and technical suppliers and maintenance service providers. Develops
acceptance tests and inspection criteria.
  • Participates in the final check out of new electrical equipment
installations. This includes factory and site acceptance testing
that will assure adherence to functional specifications.
  • Leads to improvement in the utilization of predictive and other
non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and
isolate inherent reliability problems.
  • Owner of site electrical safety procedures and practices to protect
personnel and equipment.
  • Reviews new and existing preventative maintenance procedures for
site electrical equipment.
  • Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other
problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems
include capacity, quality, cost, or regulatory compliance issues. To
fulfill this responsibility the Sr. Electrical Reliability Engineer
applies:
  • Knowledge and engineering principles to perform analyses of
assets including asset utilization, overall equipment
effectiveness, remaining useful life & other parameters that
define operating condition, reliability, and costs of assets.
  • Develops and maintains reliability improvement/tracking programs for
critical electrical assets.
  • Assist in root cause failure analysis on critical equipment
failures.
  • Leads component failure analysis as required.
  • Reviews project design packages for proper design regarding
reliability and electrical safety.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of the preventative
maintenance program.
  • Develops, reviews, and maintains electrical equipment specifications
as related to purchasing, installation, operation, and storage.
  • Develop and implement alterations and revisions to electrical
equipment to improve business performance of the operating units.
  • Provide various reports as needed.
  • Always present a professional image to clients and vendors while
maintaining a positive reputation in the company.
  • Assists other Departments and other administrative personnel as
necessary.
  • Initiate and follow through MOCs
  • Must be willing to be available 24/7 on short notice to support
plant operations.
  • Must be able to work extended hours during plant outages and
emergencies
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS

  • Licensed PE a plus
  • CMRP a plus

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR TRAINING
  • Bachelors or higher degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Ten years or more experience preferred. Experience as plant owners
employee in a continuous process industry, preferably chemicals or
oil refining preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 70B required.
  • Knowledge and experience with NETA and IEEE preferred.
  • Experience with electrical testing technologies preferred.

PREFERRED
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking or in
writing so others will understand
  • Must be self-motivated and possess skills to identify and solve
unusual problems
  • Must be capable to make decisions and recommendations with minimal
supervision
  • Must be willing to spend time in the field as required
  • Ability to use computers and computer systems utilizing standard
software (ie; Microsoft Suite)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Electrical Engineering Knowledge of the practical application of
electrical engineering. This includes applying principles,
techniques, procedures to:
  • Support capital projects and electrical equipment selection.
  • Commissioning electrical equipment experience is a plus.
  • Experience in SAP or similar maintenance programs a plus.
  • Experience in Arc Flash Analysis required.
  • Production and Processing Knowledge of raw materials, production
processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for
maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • English Language Knowledge of the structure and content of the
English language including the meaning and spelling of words,
rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Design Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals
involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints,
drawings, and models.
  • Mechanical Knowledge of machines and tools, including their
designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Science Using scientific rules and methods to solve problems.
  • Complex Problem Solving identifying complex problems and reviewing
related information to develop and evaluate options and implement
solutions.
  • Critical Thinking using logic and reasoning to identify the
strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or
