Summary

Pen Bay Medical Center is currently seeking a full time Nurse Manager of the Med Surg Unit to join their leadership team!

This role will work directly with the Director of Acute and Critical Care. The role is responsible for managing all resources (human, material, and financial) in order to ensure quality, cost effectives, and level of care for Pen Bay's specific patient population.

For a limited time MaineHealth is offering up to $10,000 Sign on bonus for all eligible experienced Registered Nurses with 0-2 years of experience and $20,000 for experienced Registered Nurses with greater than 2 years of experience!

Position Summary

The Medical Surgical Department is a 45-bed unit where nurses provide care for individuals across the life span (pediatrics - geriatrics) who are experiencing illness or having surgery that is appropriately cared for in an acute community hospital setting. This includes caring for patients with stroke, sepsis, exacerbation of chronic conditions or post-operative patients as just a few examples. The Med-Surg at Pen Bay provides expert care to patients requiring telemetry, progressive care, palliative care, and hospice.

The manager works collaboratively with the Director of Acute and Critical Care to manage the operations of the clinical services of the Medical Surgical Unit and Special Care Unit. Responsibilities include managing resources (human, material, and financial), to ensure quality, cost-effective delivery of services for specific patient populations. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Recognized as a professional role model, promoting an environment that supports the goals, mission, vision, philosophy and values of the Division of Nursing Services and the Coastal Healthcare Alliance.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

    1. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN required or entry into BSN program within 6 months and completion within 2 years. Master's Degree in Nursing or other health-related field preferred
    2. License/Certification: Licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Maine required. Current American Heart Association certifications in BLS and ACLS required. Leadership Certification preferred or within 18 months of hire.
    3. Experience: Medical Surgical and Critical Care experience preferred, with a minimum of two years of supervisory/leadership experience required; previous management experience preferred.
    4. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    5. Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets complex documents.
    6. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
    7. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, employees, customers, and board of directors.
