A renowned community-based social service and supportive housing organizing is currently seeking a Life Skills Specialist in Brooklyn, NY. This organization's mission is to empower children, youth, and families to overcome the obstacles they face by providing a wide range of services to youth and families in need. You would be tasked with working directly with resident's with a history of mental illness and/or who have a history of being unhoused to enhance their daily living skills. In addition, you would be collaborating with other professionals to deliver services to individuals who are homeless, at-risk, and/or are disenfranchised members of the LGBTQIA community.

The base pay range for this position is $22 to $24 per hour. The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based on geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of the offer. *Responsibilities:*
* Responsible for cultivating a safe living environment for formerly homeless, young adults, many living with a significant mental illness, and identifying as part of the LQBTQIA+ community.
* Provide consistent, high quality program service delivery to all clients populations in accordance with funder and regulatory requirements.
* Work directly with residents to enhance their daily living skills (i.e. includes but not limited to budgeting, grocery shopping, cooking meals independently, apartment organization/maintenance, entitlement support, personal hygiene, safely accessing public transportation, scheduling and attending appointments on time).
* Facilitate groups weekly to assist residents with acclimating to an independent living environment.
* Work in collaboration with case managers to aid consumers with achieving all goals identified in their Individualized Service Plan.
* Facilitate individual session as applicable.
* Refer and connect program residents to community resources to enhance their overall health and social support networks.
* Encouraged tenants to participate in recreational events in the community to increase consumer socialization skills
* Work with the social service team to ensure residents provide all necessary documentation to recertify apartment units and collaborate with property management to navigate all tenant apartment needs and repairs.
* Provide support to community residents and church social programs.

*Qualifications:*
* BSW or BA in related human services field required
* Experience working with homeless, at-risk, or involved LGBTQIA youth.
* Proven experience in clinical program implementation with either young adults, formerly homeless, or LGBTQIA+ community preferred.
