Job Summary: The Admin Charge Nurse-Oncology in collaboration with the Manager and Director-Patient Care assists with providing clinical, administrative, financial, and human resource management of licensed and unlicensed staff in the outpatient clinic environment that cares for patients eighteen years of age or older with suspected or confirmed malignancies or a hematologic disorder. Supports and participates in cancer research approved by the Internal Review Board (IRB). Functions in a patient-centered care model of practice and utilizes discretion and independent judgment to ensure quality direct and indirect age-specific patient care in a fast-paced environment. Reviews patient appointment lists throughout the day and ensures patient assignments match staff competencies and capabilities. Promotes the empowerment of the nursing profession and excels in implementing new knowledge, innovations and improvements in practice to enhance the patient experience and clinical outcomes. Facilitates a positive environment and provides hands-on guidance to engage staff in adopting a care delivery model of accountability, empowerment, and excellence that infuses evidenced-based practice into clinical practice. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required, or, Associate's Degree in Nursing with a Bachelor's Degree in another field with a Master's Degree in Nursing required. Minimum three years nursing experience in oncology required. Minimum one year of prior management or supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Advanced knowledge of oncology and hematology required. Basic knowledge of healthcare regulations and survey process required. Demonstrates advanced competencies in clinical nursing, leadership, supervision, management and communications skills required. Ability to apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expand knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in oncology/hematology. Able to read and write legibly in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program, relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications: California Registered Nurse (RN) License required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required. Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certificate required. Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred. Other competencies as specified in the department-specific Plan for Providing Care required.
