Job Summary

The Supervisor oversees and conducts biostatistics research, consultation, design, analysis and reporting to provide information to clients, principal investigator(s), management and other agencies. Manages design and implementation of research methods, analysis plans, calculations, and advanced statistical reports per statistical analysis plan for multiple projects. Reviews and authors study protocols for statistical analysis plans for statistical methodology, study design, and sample size. Contributes to presentations and publications, writes statistical section of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals and presents research findings at regional and national conferences. Oversees and trains biostatistics staff, including monitoring work load and performing administrative duties including annual performance evaluations and corrective actions. Develops departmental processes, such as SOPs and Work Guidelines, to ensure proficient database management, data integrity, data analysis, and report validity. The incumbent does not perform any direct bench or clinical (patient) research.

Essential Functions:
  • Project Management Assists with supervising research teams to determine best statistical approach for assigned projects, identifies appropriate analyses to be used for each assigned project and participates in development of appropriate data collection instruments. Generates project/study reports as outlined in the project plan or statistical analysis plan. Oversees a tracking log of all assigned projects and the status of each. (30%)
  • Analysis and Reporting Compiles datasets and performs advanced statistical summary reports and analyses. Writes statistical analysis plans and reports. Prepares progress reports for executive leadership. Develops Data Safety Monitoring Board charters and reports. (20%)
  • Research Study Management Reviews study protocols for statistical methodology validation, validates databases following a systematic process to ensure data quality and accuracy, and reviews data for proposal compliance and documentation. (15%)
  • Policy and Process Assists in managing departmental processes to ensure proficient database management, data quality, data integrity, data analysis and report validity. (15%)
  • Staff Management Supervises biostatistics staff, including providing daily oversight and monitoring workload, annual performance reviews and corrective actions. (15%)
  • Presentations Contributes to the preparation of manuscript submissions to peer-reviewed journals, and presentation of research findings at regional and national conferences. (5%)

Education:
  • Master's Degree Statistics, Computer Science or disciplines which include application of statistical analysis and research or comparable education and experience Required

Work Experience:
  • 4-6 years Experience in applied statistics required. Required
