As part of an industry-leading team, you will develop the skills to empower results for our clients by learning to deliver innovative and effective solutions as part of our Aon Consumer Benefit Solutions business.

This position is available to be worked virtually from home or in office in the following region:

  • Midwest: i.e., Chicago, IL, etc.

What the day will look like

Over the nine-month training program, the Aon Consumer Benefit Solutions Sales Trainee will develop the expertise and knowledge in consulting to engage prospective clients during the sales process as well as existing clients during renewal discussions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Learn to be responsible for generating new sales through a consulting role dealing with various distribution systems, primary focus on working within Aon's existing Risk and Health channels.
  • Learn to executes marketing programs and strategies designed to increase distribution of Aon's enrollment process and our carrier partner's voluntary benefits.
  • Learn to educate producers affiliated with Aon on the enrollment process and the sales and marketing strategies for voluntary benefits
  • Learn to maintain relationships with Aon producers to ensure a complete and thorough understanding of the enrollment solutions' and voluntary benefits best practices
  • Learn to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Become a subject matter expertise on Voluntary Benefit products and Voluntary Benefit carriers
  • Become an expertise in proprietary and 3rd party Benefits Administration systems
  • Learn to articulates and communicates value proposition and key differentiators
  • Develop a high-level working knowledge of other practice area solutions
  • Collaborate with colleagues to communicate market knowledge and sales process and to keep abreast of operations
  • Develop knowledge about sales strategies, solutions, and industry changes

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Demonstrate strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Interpersonal skills, to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among project stakeholders (such as operations, product management, and the development team).
  • Ability to maintain a cordial and effective relationship with clients, co-workers, carriers, vendors and other business contacts. Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal, writing and listening skills and the ability to multitask and organize.
  • Employee benefits industry experience is a plus
  • Client engagement experience is a plus
  • Excellent Microsoft office suite skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Microsoft Access is a plus

Education: Bachelor's degree strongly preferred with emphasis on marketing, or equivalent years of industry experience. High school diploma or equivalent required.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $75,000 annually. The actual salary may vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
