Summary

Waldo County General Hospital serves the health needs of area residents through Waldo County General Hospital, Waldo County Medical Partners, five rural health centers, home health and hospice services, public health nursing Penobscot Shores and educational programs.

Waldo County General Hospital is a 25-bed, not-for-profit, critical access, medical and surgical hospital in Belfast, Maine, which has served the health needs of our local residents since 1901. The hospital features an inpatient hospice care suite; a fully-digital radiology and imaging department with in-house CT scanner, MRI unit, nuclear medicine scanner, digital mammography and digital ultrasound; a medical oncology and infusion therapy clinic; a sleep disorders Laboratory; advanced cardiology and pulmonary testing; the Voice and Swallowing Center of Maine; a mobile PET scanner; and a Dialysis Clinic.

Waldo County General Hospital is part of the Coastal Healthcare Alliance and the MaineHealth system. We are presently seeking a CNA/Unit Secretary to join our team!

  • Position Summary This position is per diem with variable hours.
    • Under the direct supervision of the Director of Oncology and Infusion Therapy or Oncology/IVT Staff Nurses, the Unit CNA/Unit Secretary is responsible to perform these major functions: 1. The Unit Secretary must work effectively with the Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, Administration, Support Services, and Ancillary Services personnel, at all times maintaining a cooperative working relationship. 2. Assists the licensed nurse and other members of the health care team in the delivery of direct care to patients in IV therapy and Oncology. 3. Performs secretarial, receptionist and computer functions.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • License/Certifications: Successful completion of an approved C.N.A. Program and certification by the State of Maine.
    • Experience: Previous experience in a clinical setting preferred.
    • Knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred.
    • Typing skills of 45 w.p.m. preferred.
    • Good organizational skills.
    • Good listening, reading and writing skills.
