Purpose

The Graduate Program Coordinator in Art and Art History administers and coordinates the MFA in Studio, MA in Art Education, and MA and PhD in Art History. Providing information to students, prospective students and faculty regarding program rules and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Administer and coordinate the MFA program in Studio Art, MA in Art Education, and MA and PhD in Art History, under the supervision of three Graduate Advisors. Provide in-depth information, clarification, and interpretation of institutional and graduate program rules, regulations and procedures to current students and faculty as well as prospective students. Administer PhD qualifying exams and departmental language exams. Assist with registration processes.

  • Serve as primary liaison between the department and prospective students. Answer questions by telephone, email and in-person about admission criteria and program requirements for the four graduate degree programs.

  • Work with UT's Graduate Admissions office on the application process for the graduate programs. Maintain a database of all requisite applicant information. Prepare files and summarize contents for committee/faculty review. Manage the process for each accepted, wait-listed, or rejected applicant.

  • Maintain files of all accepted graduate students.

  • Develop and send a welcome letter, housing resources, and city and university information to admitted students. Prepare orientation materials and events for incoming students with academic information.

  • Prepare the TA/AI budget under the supervision of the graduate advisors. Manage the department's TA and grader application and appointment processes. Coordinate fellowship appointments.

  • Assist with annual revisions of departmental website and handbooks for graduate academic programs. Maintain alumni information on graduates.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years' experience working with college students in an administrative or advising capacity.

  • Proficiency with Adobe Pro and Microsoft Suite

  • Competencies: Accuracy and Attention to Detail, Initiative, Decision Making and Critical thinking, Effective Communication, Interpersonal Relationships, Service Excellence, Problem-solving

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree

  • 5 years' experience working with college students in an administrative or advising capacity

  • Previous entry level Graduate Coordinator experience

  • Prior Administrative work experience at the University of Texas at Austin

Salary Range

$50,000 - $52,000
