Job Description

The Associate Professor/Course Leader is tasked with teaching and overseeing all sections of the NR730 DNP Project class. In this class, students collaborate with a DNP faculty to develop and plan their DNP Project. Besides instructing up to two course sections, this individual will evaluate all practicum project proposal forms submitted by students and offer guidance and feedback for their approval.

In this role you will:

  • Takeresponsibility for program outcomes by implementing the College's philosophy, curriculum and course objectives through classroom, online, clinical teaching, and service to the University, community, health system and profession.
  • Developcurricular/teaching innovations in the annual preparation and revision of all assigned course(s).
  • Assumeresponsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching loads.
  • Monitorclinical agencies for appropriateness for student clinical experiences and ability to meet clinical course outcomes.
  • Planclinical experiences for and providedirect/ indirect supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering nursing care to an individual or group of individuals.
  • In cooperation with clinical agencies and college departments, provideoversight for clinical preceptors/mentors for student clinical experiences and coordinates and evaluatethose preceptors/mentors.
  • Providedocumented feedback to students on level of performance based on course outcomes.
  • Providestudent remediation within assigned courses.
  • Communicateup-to-date information about agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Postdeveloped clinical assignments consistent with student's knowledge base, skill competency and learning needs.
  • Serveas a positive professional role model for students, assisting in their professional/social development.
  • Serveas an informal leader, mentor, and role model for other faculty and staff in the areas of customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence and general professionalism.
  • Mentornew faculty members.
  • Participatein professional activities outside the University.
  • Contributeto the development, implementation and evaluation of the programs and the philosophy of the University.
  • Participatein academic advisement and counseling for an assigned group of students while participating in assessment of potential and real counseling concerns for all students with whom the faculty come into contact.
  • Contributeto the development and evaluation of student admission, progression, retention and graduation policies within the University.
  • Provideopportunities for student and graduate evaluation of curriculum and teaching and program effectiveness.
  • Providerecommendations to the program leader regarding budgetary needs for the University.
  • A faculty member at the rank of Associate Professor demonstrates significant leadership within the University by accepting or initiating, as part of the workload, responsibility activities such as:
  1. Chairing or serving on University committees.
  2. Chairing and/ or serving on work groups that contribute to preparation for accreditation visits.
  3. Gathering and analyzing data related to course, curriculum and program review to foster continuous quality improvement.
  4. Serving as course coordinator, course lead or Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  5. Documenting actions taken in faculty and committee meetings as appropriate.
  • Demonstratescholarship through the Scholarship of Teaching, Discovery, Application, or Integration congruent with expectations of assigned rank.
  • Demonstratea practice of scholarly teaching characterized by keeping course materials and content current, applying principles of evidence based teaching, participating in and welcoming peer review of teaching, and reflection on one's own teaching.
  • Completes other duties as assigned and complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in Nursing and PhD in Nursing are required.
  • Experienceteaching in the DNP specialty is required and experience with DNP Projects and Practicums is a strong plus.
  • 5+ years of full-time teaching experience is required, online teaching is strongly preferred.
  • Current regulatory and practice credentials maintainedwhen appropriate, based on assignment.
  • Excellent communication skills along with a high level of initiative and prudent judgment.
  • For those working within the clinical setting, additional compliance requirements are needed, and those requirements are located in the faculty compliance packet.
  • Experientially prepared to teach assigned courses.
  • Professional nurse licensure is required.

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $77,996.84 and $140,851.54. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
