Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Pharmacy Resident you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact as an integral part of our hospital pharmacy team as you take part in a one year post-graduate training program designed to train pharmacy practitioners in all major aspects of inpatient pharmaceutical services. Members of our pharmacy team consider themselves a family where each member works hard to support each other. We are looking for someone who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do. In this Pharmacy Resident role:

 

· You will interact with patients, their significant others, and health care team members while maintaining professional standards in serving patients of all ages.

· You will interpret, transcribe, and/or verify orders accurately into the pharmacy computer system.

· You will compound and dispense prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals for patient care. 

· You will monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug and food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose.

· You will sustain the hospital formulary by minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges and promoting rational drug therapy selection.

· You will act as a drug information resource to patients, medical staff, nursing staff, and ancillary department personnel.

· You will supervise pharmacy support personnel, technicians, pharmacy students, pharmacy interns/externs, volunteers, and the pharmacy procurement specialist.

· You will provide basic technical support for automated dispensing machines and other pharmacy computer systems.

· You will serve as a patient therapeutic advocate with efforts directed toward continuous quality improvement of pharmacy services.

 

Qualifications:

    • Must be a graduate of an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy and have received the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
    • Should have a pharmacist license issued by the State of Idaho within 90 days of starting the residency program.
    • Must obtain and/or maintain BLS, ACLS and PALS (American Red Cross or American Heart Association) as a requirement of residency training within the first 12 months of start date.

    Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC) is a full-service hospital with 318+ patient beds. Our hospital is the largest medical facility in the region. We serve southeast Idaho, western Wyoming, Yellowstone National Park, and parts of Montana. Our facility has an ER, a Level II Trauma Center, a Level 1 ICU (one of two in Idaho), and the only Burn Center in the state of Idaho. We have the region’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for critically ill children. Our 74-bed Behavioral Health Center offers inpatient and outpatient mental health care for adolescents and adults.
