Job Summary

This position pays $17.20 per hour with $4.57 Health and Welfare (H&W). Operates multi-line telephone system to answer incoming calls and directs callers to appropriate personnel by performing the following duties. Greet and assist visitors and direct them based on the purpose of the visit and assist employees as appropriate.

Primary Duties

  • Operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voicemail systems, and personal computers.

  • Accurately enter data into corresponding fields within various software programs.

  • Review files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests.

  • Compute, record, and proofread data and other information such as records, or reports.

  • Maintain patient confidence by keeping patient record information confidential.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform phone operator functions such as answering multiple call lines, transferring, receiving codes, and speaking on the PA system.

  • Adhere to all fire and safety, bomb threats, and security protocol regulations within assigned area.

  • Serve and protect the hospital community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements as well as Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Organizations (JACHO) standards.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.

  • 1 year experience in a high demand and fast-paced environment preferred.

  • 1 year experience with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) preferred.

  • Must be able to obtain a VA security clearance.

  • Well organized and self-directed.

  • Detail-oriented and able to carry out work with a high level accuracy.
