Responsibilities

Reporting to the Vice President of Sales & Marketing, the Sales Director’s responsibility is to lead a team of sales professionals who deliver profitable growth focusing on growth at existing accounts as well as securing new business growth with new customers. By collaborating closely with the business team, technology, manufacturing, marketing and innovation colleagues, as well as other Chroma resources, the successful leader will be able to lead a team of sales professionals who successfully leverage our value proposition as a market leader in our space to deliver growth. The Sales Director will:

Lead a sales team (inside & outside seller) who achieve year over year profitable sales growth in the defined geographic area. Sales professionals meet or exceed plan targets.
Implement a discipline in how the team approaches the market ensuring we are focusing on the right business for our portfolio. Working closely with technology to go after the “right business”.
Instill a rigor in account development and how we approach the sales process.
Plays a key role in ensuring his/her team negotiates and closes new contracts and supply agreements that achieve a mutual win for both the customer and Chroma.
Drives a cadence communicating the progress of monthly initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
Forecast and track key account metrics (e.g. monthly sales results and annual forecasts).
Ensures sales professionals establish an annual budget for all accounts and be accountable to delivering on the budget.
Ensure the team prepares reports on account status and updates.
Proficiently utilize Chroma’s CRM (“Empower”) as the primary tool for account data management, customer activities, pipeline opportunity tracking, meeting notes, reports, technical requests (Color Match Requests).

Essential Experience, Skills & Abilities:

Prior sales leadership required—strongly preferred in the colorant and additive concentrate industry.
Demonstrated track record of leading teams who are growth driven with a focus on not only maintaining & growing the current customer base—but also identifying and landing “new accounts”.
Strong performance in leading the team to utilize commercial excellence tools: account plan development, articulating value propositions and demonstrated ability to lead new product development projects with customers.
Skilled in teaching & leading utilizing selling “value” and penetrating prospects and customers (high/wide/deep) with the decision makers and influencers in their organizations to generate profitable growth.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a matrix organization structure with strong influencing and communication skills. Must be highly organized, articulate and demonstrate intellectual rigor with a keen focus on being customer centric.
Ability to work independently and communicate effectively both in writing and verbally as well as in preparing and delivering customer communications.
