Your responsibilities

The Internal Quality Manger leads and directs Internal Quality Management for ThyssenKrupp Bilstein of America (TKBIL). This position is responsible for driving sustainable excellence in quality during the production cycle by providing technical leadership through quality discipline, driving adherence to systems and maintaining an intense customer focus. Follows-up on and provides information to the Customer Quality Department for corrective action and coordination of all customer related quality issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Oversees and provides leadership to the Quality Department. Ensures all products manufactured by Bilstein are in accordance with the TKBIL quality programs and requirements as well as the quality/reliability standards of our customer's specifications and expectations.
  • Trains and develops all personnel in root cause analysis of quality issues and development of long-term cost effective solutions as well as a 'preventative' mind set to anticipate future occurrences.
  • Develops, implements and maintains an environment of continuous improvement and adherence to Bilsteins' quality system.
  • Prepares, manages and controls a department budget that meets or exceeds Company goals and objectives. Tracks and maintains quality related costs.
  • Implements, monitors and maintains quality Best in Class operating systems and initiatives.
  • Manages and coordinates tasks of Quality Technicians and Internal Quality Engineers.
  • Responsible for assisting in investigations and responses to customer complaints.
  • Manages customer quality rejects and returned materials and the performance of root cause analysis and corrective actions. Assigns corrective actions to appropriate person for follow-up.
  • Reports quality systems results and metrics.
  • Oversees process capability studies and assists in quality audits.
  • Expected to perform management tasks of organizing, motivating, communicating and measuring department personnel activity.
  • Facilitates continuous improvement activities aimed at reducing cost of poor quality and improving overall process capability.
  • Manages quality inspection process and procedures.
  • Manages quality documentation
  • Defines, enhances and improves Plant Quality Management System.
  • Performs situation task force management.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Your profile

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Extensive experience in quality control/quality assurance within the automotive industry with knowledge of TS16949 standards.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and motivating teams in situations associated with high volumes of work and/or customer demands. This would include providing direction, coaching, and effective feedback to team members.
  • Knowledge and experience in the implementation and maintenance of a Quality Management System.
  • Thorough understanding of the elements of the Quality Management Systems and ISO 9001 requirements and tools.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of plant processes and systems.
  • Good understanding of a broad range of business processes, including product development, manufacturing, sales, finance, and customer service.
  • Solution oriented with the ability to investigate and analyze data for problem solving.
  • Project Management skills and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with strong attention to detail focus.
  • Knowledge of budgeting procedures and should possess negotiating skills.
  • Understanding of Lean Principles.
  • Thorough understanding of process engineering principles.
  • Must be able to handle stressful/pressure situations in a professional manner.
  • Ability to effectively manage daily activities and personnel of the Quality department.
  • Strong working knowledge of statistical methods.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization and highly effective written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to build professional relationships and create high levels of commitment and performance within teams.
  • Highly organized with ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performance.
  • Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational and communication skills.
  • Proven experience developing work processes to improve outcomes for the team/customers.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related degree.
  • ASQ or equivalent Quality Certifications is plus.
  • Ideally Six Sigma or Shainin background.

Position Demands:

  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects.
  • Up to 10% travelling
