Job Description

The Facilities Specialist is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of the warehouse and office systems and space at the Perot Family Campus, acting as a contact for emergency situations. This position will also assist vendors and provide the support needed to expedite repairs and reduce equipment downtime.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education/Certifications/Licenses:

• High school diploma or GED required

• Refrigeration/HVAC, plumbing, or electrical licensing preferred


Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Must be able to work independently without direct supervision

• Strong customer service orientation, time management and organizational skills

• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills; English fluency in communications

• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and highly diverse environment

• Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Outlook and basic knowledge of Excel

• Must be knowledgeable with OSHA regulations


Experience:

• 2 years of demonstrated general facilities maintenance experience(commercial preferred)

• Experience operating a forklift and scissor lift preferred

• Warehouse environment a plus

• 1 year experience and robust knowledge of HVAC Preventative Maintenance procedures and repairs


PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Respond promptly to all service requests as it relates to all equipment within the facility

• Coordinate preventative maintenance on all equipment according to the maintenance schedule

• Perform elementary electrical and plumbing work and determine when an electrician or plumber is required

• Transport goods and/or equipment on company vehicle as assigned

• Assist vendors and inspect quality of service delivered

• Perform general maintenance functions including, but not limited to, changing light bulbs; replacing broken switch plates and outlet covers; unstopping toilets, sinks and drains; replacing blinds; hanging window coverings, pictures, bulletin boards, etc.; touch up painting; checking and cleaning gutters; replacing doorknobs and strike plates, hinges, cabinet knobs, and reporting other maintenance needs

• Perform basic repairs to buildings and miscellaneous equipment or appliances

• Report and/or make recommendations concerning maintenance issues or needs

• Perform routine safety walkthroughs of all buildings; identify and report potential safety hazards

• Ensure all routine maintenance needs of warehouse forklift trucks are completed weekly

• Keep utility storage rooms in good order by arranging supplies as well as performing cleaning duties including sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors

• Monitor temperature in all refrigeration units and report any issues

• Monitor burglar alarm and fire alarm events; take necessary action following company protocols

• Manage and assist in setup for all conference rooms via Outlook and provide support for special outdoor events setup

• Provide facilities support and guidance to team members in the absence of supervisor

• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned

• The person in this position needs to be able to read; communicate verbally and/or in written form; remember and analyze certain information and remember and understand certain instructions or guidelines; gather and classify information for the purposes of notifying offices impacted


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required walk; stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; bend, reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; talk or hear.

• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds and operate a forklift and scissor lift


ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

• Moderate to loud noise (i.e., light traffic business office with open floor plan with computers, phone, and printers, and medium to heavy traffic in the warehouse with forklifts and pallet jacks)

• Work schedule is Monday – Friday from 8:00AM – 4:30PM, but may be required to work on weekends, holidays and after normal business hours

• Reliable transportation and a valid DL and insurance is required
