The Burley Pactiv Evergreen plant was built in 2015 and manufactures sustainable molded fiber and thermoformed plastic containers including yogurt cups, hinged lid togo containers and coffee lids. The plant has 68 employees and is 176,000 square feet and is anticipating substantial growth in the near future.

 

 

Responsibilities:

**Relocation Offered**

The goal of this position is to demonstrate maximum efficiency across the network of manufacturing facilities, continuously assessing critical quality processes and systems in Pactiv Evergreen and implementing programs that will have long-term benefits. From these technical assessments, develop and implement targeted plans that address gaps in the facilities. As our manufacturing technology, automation and opportunity for optimization increase, we must transfer knowledge, network and leverage best practices within our manufacturing sites as we continue to develop a Lean Management System to run our facilities, as well as optimizing plant performance by ensuring a flawless implementation of the Pactiv Evergreen Production System (PEPS). The Quality Engineer will lead the development, implementation and maintenance of the Quality Pillar in PEPS, as well as, ensure all customer quality expectations are met while ensuring overall costs associate with quality are in line with business objectives.

 

Reporting Relationship:

The Quality Engineer will report to the Plant Manager.

 

Responsibilities:

· Develop plans, schedules, and budgets for projects to improve existing quality processes and to support the Pactiv Evergreen Production System (PEPS).

· Develop, implement and maintain quality system procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards.

· Be the business representative, plant assessor and quality process owner of the quality pillar ins PEPS.

· Internal lead for coordinating and facilitating all 3rd party audits including, but not limited to, BRC, Food Safety, NSF, etc.

· Identify, prioritize and execute continuous improvement activities through standardization and consistency.

· Supports lean improvement process with techniques such as Kaizen.

· Identify quality cost savings through research or product requirements, manufacturing methods and equipment modifications.

· Bridge the gap between technical engineering and quality teams, to move operations beyond current state to the next level of quality efficiency.

· Collaborate with technical and engineering team members to develop processes and procedures that meet customer and industry quality requirements.

· Determine customer needs through customer collaboration, engagement and communication.

· Responsible for customer complaint resolution including containment actions, root cause analysis, and implementation of permanent corrective actions.

· Collaborate with site team members in the development of standard operating procedures, standard work instructions, single point lessons, etc.

· Bridge the gap between plant level management and the New Product Development teams.

· Identify and manage resources, internal and external, that are needed to execute the targeted skills development.

· Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.

· Assist in the day-to-day requirements of internal scrap review including documentation of internal scrap.

· Develop, lead and participate in cost and scrap reduction projects.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.

· 5+ years of plant experience in technical or management roles

· Proven ability to facilitate change.

· Strong organizational skills to include: Tracking, coordination across multiple programs, effective reporting of status and results to both Plant management and senior management.

· Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of statistical methods and process improvement techniques.

· Effective communication skills (written and verbal), team building and demonstrated leadership skills with all levels in the organization.

· Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) a plus.

· Must have Microsoft Office experience with advanced Excel Skills.

· Knowledge in the areas of: 5S, SMED, TPM, VSM, PDCA or equivalent, A3 Problem Solving

· Ensure adherence to Lean Methodology, including Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, Daily Management, Layered Audit Process and Business Plan development to eliminate waste.

· Must be or become HACCP certified.
