Job Summary:

Supervise the electrical & mechanical maintenance requirements of a diverse multi-shift manufacturing operation including but not limited to reactive maintenance, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, work order management, multiple outside contractor services, building systems modification, bidding, employee evaluation and development, etc. Manage the janitorial needs, building and grounds, and recycling aspects of the plant.

Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):

  • Develop and coordinate preventative maintenance and repair programs for all plant equipment.
  • Maintain production related machines and systems, general manufacturing machines and systems, building management systems and utilities systems including, including, but not limited to forklifts/trucks, safety systems, and HVAC equipment to drive production efficiencies.
  • Maintain on-site fuel storage levels and reorder as required.
  • Manage all Outside Contractor responsibilities including:
  • Develop project bid packages and obtain competitive bidding for projects and routine tasks under La-Z-Boy guidelines.
  • Coordinate projects for various services and functions that require contract work.
  • Historically average 3 contractors per day under normal conditions.
  • Plan maintenance shutdown projects as required, coordinate volunteer, mechanic, and outside contractor requirements
SCOPE & IMPACT:

  • Interact as a member of the Plant Core/Lead Team in developing strategic vision and action plans
  • Oversee and ensure an efficient and cost-effective flow of product through the production system
  • Interact with and support Production Managers of other plants in their efforts towards improvement
  • Coach and help guide other functional areas in the plant in their efforts to support the production systems
  • Works closely with the Materials, Traffic and Quality Managers to ensure the quality and delivery of the product meet internal and external customer expectations
  • Manage production for profitability and quality and safety

MINIMIUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical maintenance or related field with 4-6 years of related experience, or equivalent
  • 3-5 years' experience supervising multi-craft maintenance teams
  • High level of competence in mechanical, electrical, PLC, HVAC, and construction fields
  • Confirmable track record for improving teams KPIs including, but not limited to, Emergency Response Time, Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), and Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF)
  • Experience with Six Sigma, TPM, RCM, or other Maintenance Process Improvement methodologies
  • Basic Knowledge of Building Codes, NEC Codebook, and other Codes governing industrial environments
  • Ability to create detailed scope specifications for purchase orders and service contracts
  • Ability to evaluate Tech's skill levels, maintain a Skills Matrix, and work with Manager to obtain required training
  • Maintenance and construction project cost estimating experience
  • Coordination with public service
  • Ability to respond to after-hours issues as needed

PREFERED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Control Systems: Working knowledge of Allen Bradley, Siemens, Modicon, Andover, Banner, Keyence, Fanuc, Motoman, Square D, General Electric, ITE, Oracle JD Edwards is preferred

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: May have up to 5 direct reports spread across potentially 2 shifts; oversee work of outside contractors

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Temperature levels are usually comfortable with high heat situations on occasion from areas such as roofs, boilers, etc.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually normal with the occasional need to work in areas requiring hearing protection.
  • Climbing to heights of up to 40' will be required for roof and HVAC access.
  • Confined space entry will be required for boilers, crawlspaces, tanks, cooling towers, etc.
  • While performing the duties of this Job: frequently required to stand; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is very frequently required to walk long distances throughout the day to cover large areas of responsibility.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
