Studies and interprets blueprints to visualize final form of die, part or tool, and plans sequence of operations to achieve desired end result Works from prints, sketches, verbal or written instructions, or from existing part to be copied or fitted Lifts, positions, and secures parts to be machined on surface plate or worktable, using hoist, vises, v-blocks, or angle plates Sets up and operates machine tools such as manual grinders and other equipment. Plans the set up and operation of tooling considering types of material, tolerances, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants, and grinding dimensions. Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts, using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, dial indicators, and gage blocks Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools and dies, using wrenches, hammers, arbor or hydraulic presses Trouble shoots poor performing tools, identifying deficiencies and suggesting improvements Inventories, requests, and investigates alternative cutting tools and shop supplies Qualified Candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
