Job Summary


The SAP Applications Portfolio Manager is an essential member of the IT Program Management Office (PMO) and will report to the Senior Manager, Program Management Office. The SAP Applications Portfolio Manager will be primarily responsible for defining and managing a portfolio of projects and programs ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and priorities. Responsible for utilizing the appropriate Program and Project Management methodology, standards, tools and techniques established by the IT PMO to deliver projects successfully and effectively, providing subject matter expertise, and managing a team of Project Managers and Business Analysts. The successful candidate will also act as Project Manager for select projects within the portfolio.

Driving SAP/Applications Portfolio and Project Execution

    Implementation, development, monitoring and management of operational and strategic portfolio planning with focus on SAP ECC / SAP S/4 and integrations
  • Manage the visibility of the IT SAP Applications portfolio and provide governance & transparency to ensure the execution is within approved time, budget, and scope
  • Help maintain portfolio and project governance practices and controls by participating on the Portfolio Prioritization Council
  • Maintain overall project demand and act as primary partner for the business to capture, structure and align on requests for presentation to the Portfolio Prioritization Council
  • Manage all portfolio artifacts, decisions, communications, metrics and reporting
  • Act as Project/Program Manager to lead and manage projects or programs within the portfolio to successful implementation
  • Ensure that projects within the assigned portfolio are executed under the PMO's strategic guidelines and standards, development methodology and governance practices through all project lifecycle phases
  • Help maintain portfolio and project governance practices and controls by participating on the Portfolio Prioritization Council

Building Organizational Capability

  • Lead, manage and develop a team of Project Managers and Business Analysts
  • Coach and mentor direct reports on portfolio and project management best practices
  • Ensure team understands customer needs and delivers the expected outcomes
  • Assist direct reports with overall issue resolution and escalation
  • Work with HR and staffing agencies as needed to recruit talent required to deliver projects
  • Provide coaching and support to the organization on PMO tools, methodology and metrics

Demonstrating Leadership

  • Establish credibility throughout the organization by setting the example of being a proactive leader and change agent with the ability of demonstrating sound business knowledge and having a reputation for delivering projects within the portfolio successfully and effectively

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

* BS / BA degree required

* MBA or other Advanced Degree preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • 10 or more years of broad applied PM experience in managing technical projects and leading technical teams or equivalent combination of transferrable experience and education
  • 5 or more years of Senior level PM & Program management experience which must include management of ERP projects with associated dependencies, complex scope, high risk and multiple integration points
  • Knowledge of ERP functionality preferably in SAP (ECC or S/4). Experience from a functional point in at least one key area (Finance, Supply Chain, Reporting, Analytics)
  • Deep understanding of business processes within a manufacturing environment
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of and experience managing projects to the system development lifecycle
  • Experience with Contract Negotiation & Vendor Management
  • Thorough understanding of Organizational Change Management
  • Highly defined communication skills, ability to clearly articulate to technical and non-technical audiences, communicate difficult messages in a professional and productive manner and ability to represent IT as a leader in cross functional discussions and initiatives
  • Ability to build trust and strategic partnerships with assigned business sponsors, team, consultants, and leadership to facilitate communication and collaboration
  • Experience in managing Project Managers & associated project administrative staff
  • Proficiency in relevant software skills, including MS Project, Visio, Smartsheet, SharePoint, HPLM
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to changes in customer demands
  • Results-oriented and capable of handling multiple tasks at once
  • Strong financial acumen
