Description

Job Summary Reporting to the Director of Application Services, The Applications Manager is responsible for managing the applications programming team. The Applications team is tasked with development, support, maintenance, and testing of web applications and data integrations at the College. The Applications Manager will establish departmental standards to develop front and back-end code that supports a wide variety of internal and public-facing applications, manage project development, establish tasks for these projects, mentor team members, and write code as needed. Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Oversee the Applications group, managing staff and projects.
  • With the Director of Application Services, set priorities for the group.
  • Create and ensure adherence to project specifications for various Applications needs
  • Interface with members of other ITS teams and other College departments on large-scale projects
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality web applications for the College
  • Establish departmental programming standards
  • Maintain expertise in both front and back-end languages and frameworks.
  • Maintain expertise in database technologies
  • Acquire new expertise as necessary to meet product and department requirements.
  • Perform code review and mentor developers
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ Years experience managing and mentoring other developers
  • Demonstrated skills as a full-stack web developer
  • Excellent working knowledge of TypeScript, React, , , and other web technologies
  • Strong understanding of back-end development including experience developing RESTful APIs
  • Strong project management and project specification abilities
  • Solid understanding of software testing best practices
  • Familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Familiarity with AWS platforms including Lamba, API Gateway, and DynamoDB
  • Familiarity with static and dynamic websites, CI/CD, and cloud deployment
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • A strong willingness to learn new technology and wear lots of hats
  • Higher education experience is preferred
Extra Credit
  • Working knowledge of other languages (especially Ruby, Python, and PHP).
  • Strong AWS experience (DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, S3).
  • Solid design sensibilities and an understanding of modern CSS development.
  • An interest in exploring new tech and making recommendations to the department.
  • Previous experience with integrations with any of the following: Salesforce, Simpplr, Workday, iPaas solutions.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This is a full time, exempt level position with a salary range of $117,000-$123,500. The College is committed to providing competitive market pay for its employees. The College also offers a competitive benefits package for full-time staff, including:
  • 10% College contribution to the 403(b) Retirement Plan (1 year wait waiver available)
  • This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement - upon hire, candidates will need to live within commuting distance
