Our Taneytown, MD Pump Manufacturing facility is over 150,000 square feet and provides capability for engineering, design, customer service, machining, assembly, and testing for a diverse product portfolio, which serves all markets (power, oil & gas, water resources, general industry, and chemical). The facility has expanded four times since opening in 1971 to accommodate revenue growth and product line developments. The entire project lifecycle is experienced all under the same roof.

Role Summary:

The Painter will use paint application techniques and equipment to professionally finish exterior surfaces of assembled and unassembled pumps, values, parts, components to support facility as required. The Painter will prep product for painting, operate paint equipment, and paint product and/or components per operating procedures and instructions. This position regularly requires work near moving mechanical parts. It occasionally requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.

1st Shift: Monday - Friday (6:30 am - 3:00 pm)

Responsibilities:

  • Review area of component/pump and determine quantity and application of paint
  • Be able to mix paint and complete painting tasks according to the operation procedure.
  • Safely prepare surfaces to be painted, which may include cleaning solvents and compressed air
  • Apply paint to exterior and interior surfaces as required using brushes and/or sprayers
  • Adhere to safe work habits, rules, and practices, including the correct use of tools, machines, safety devices and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of paint equipment and perform necessary housekeeping and safety duties as required.
  • Perform other duties assigned including willingness to move to other areas as needed.
  • Responsible for quality of work performed; work efficiently and to required specifications with minimal supervision.
  • Must wear safety protection according to company policy.
  • Exhibit behaviors that contribute toward an environment that encourages teambuilding, decision making, problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Read and understand both verbal and written instructions.
  • Participate in CIP activities as required and comply with all Flowserve policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years’ experience in general mechanics or specialized training preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions and drawings
  • Ability to read and comprehend precision measuring equipment
  • Ability to use a wide variety of hand, power and air tools
  • Ability to follow complex verbal and written instructions
  • Good mechanical ability and manual dexterity is essential (able to stand for long periods of time)
  • Ability to obtain respirator certification
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Must have a strong work ethic and be able to follow proper safety procedures and guidelines

Preferred Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Computer skills preferred
