POSITION SUMMARY:
The Production Supervisor ensures employee safety, product quality and asset performance while delivering on time the shift/line/area production plan. This is accomplished by: Leading a team ranging between 20-30 employees; focusing on results to deliver success as measured by key performance metrics; being the transformational leader that creates a sustainable work environment, where employees feel engaged, loyal, satisfied and empowered to develop their capabilities and ways of working to exceed their line objectives. The Production supervisor is ultimately responsible for competency building across their team and to develop the autonomy of the team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure the team is properly trained on competencies, good manufacturing practices (GMP's), equipment and safety procedures. In addition, create a standards culture to ensure stable manufacturing performance. Where standards are continually created, challenged and improved by working groups. Ensuring these are meaningful and followed with discipline.
  2. Ensure a safe work environment is always maintained and activities being performed having an environmental impact are communicated and executed according to the environmental management plan.
  3. Ensure quality objectives are met through performance of sanitation audits, food safety checks, and product quality checks conducted according to policies. Actively participate in prevention and correction of quality-related errors. Check and enforce personnel hygiene & personal protective equipment.
  4. Ongoing coaching of employees to fulfill and exceed the requirements of the job. Prepare for and attend daily operation reviews to ensure plans address root cause and support continuous improvement initiatives. Facilitate seamless handoffs and communicate key information to peers, team members and management.
  5. Ensure adherence to Nestle policies and external regulations.
  6. Ensure efficient operations of factory by empowering employees to make autonomous decisions and effective employee management.
  7. Ensure that there is an adequate cross training to enable production plan to be achieved effectively.
  8. Ensure timely launch of new products.
  9. Ensure adequate routines for optimal performance of equipment in coordination with quality, engineering & administration. Prioritize, schedule, and ensure maintenance & repairs are completed to maximize efficiency. Promote and use digital technologies to optimize line processes and enhance continues improvement activities.

REQUIREMENTS & MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 2 years of leadership experience preferred, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • OR 2 years in a leadership role in the United States Military

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in food processing or packaging
  • Experience in Quality in a food processing environment.
  • Experience with safety
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement environment (Lean manufacturing or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) preferred)

SKILLS:

  • Ability to maintain a safe working environment through proper housekeeping and safety practices
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening). Ability to adjust communication style to multiple audiences, facilitate group coaching, and information sharing. Ability to positively confront and effectively deal with non-compliance through effective soft skills.
  • Excellent people skills - maintain a positive attitude and ability to motivate people, specifically mentoring and coaching individuals in identifying short and long-term development needs and providing appropriate support.
  • Must be willing to face challenging situations and solve problems autonomously.
  • Developed ability to build personal relationships based on trust, mutual respect and open communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at one time through highly developed organizational skills.
  • Ability to set effective and challenging objectives.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting through root cause problem solving.
  • Follow through on tasks and activities in a timely manner.
  • Intermediate level computer skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work across multiple shifts due to operational needs
