Summary of Position Functions

The Maintenance Technician participates in the activities of the maintenance team to assure proper maintenance and mechanical repair of machinery and equipment within the allotted budget and consistent with company policies, procedures, and regulations. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician is expected to communicate with superiors to execute site specific maintenance strategies for achievement of key performance goals within set schedules.

Essential Position Functions

  • Promotes safety and acts in accordance with all safety guidelines at all times.
  • Collaborates with Scheduler/Planner to complete work assignments based on work priority, tool availability, and quantity of equipment.
  • Assist in managing tool and part inventories and conditions.
  • Performs regular preventative maintenance on shops to ensure adequate working conditions while maintaining compliance with maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Initiates work orders and ensures work order procedures are maintained.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed company record and reports when necessary.

Education and Qualifications

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED); and five (5) years of experience as an Industrial Maintenance Technician; o equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Veregy's services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
  • Must have working knowledge of 480-volt 3 phase power distribution such as transformers, motor control centers, and power panels.
  • Contains knowledge of 120- and 24-volt discrete control and 4-20mA analog control systems.
  • Familiarity with Simplex Fire Alarm systems, maintenance, and daily interactions.
  • Competency with Variable Frequency Drives, Programmable Logic Controllers, Remote I/O, DC Speed Controllers, AC/DC Motors, and Motor Controls.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of utility systems including hydraulics, air compressors, AHUs, pumps, and HVAC systems.
  • Understanding of mechanical power transfer systems such as gear reducers, chain/belt drives, direct drives, bearings, shafts, and couplings.
  • Knowledge (Basic to Intermediate) of various operating systems and software products (e.g. MS Office, etc.), is required.
  • Ability to operate bridge cranes and jib cranes.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time / workload.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to utilize and demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate in a team environment.
  • Possesses adequate problem solving and support capabilities in repair and maintenance of machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to recognize inefficiencies and recommend process improvements to appropriate superiors.
