Position Description


This is a full-time on-site role for a Mechanical or Structural Engineer based in Savannah, GA. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for mechanical engineering, machine design, implementation, installation, and testing of mechanical structures and systems. The Mechanical Engineer will also be responsible for CAD drawings, R&D, and project management. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical or structural design with experience in manufacturing, analysis, and testing of designed components. The Mechanical Engineer shall have a Mechanical or Structural Engineering degree or equivalent work experience as substitute.



Required skills and qualifications
  • 5 or more years of experience in machine or component design
  • Ability to design, develop, and implement mechanical systems
  • Experience with computer aided design programs
  • Knowledge of structural fatigue and stress points
  • Proficient with mechanical design and testing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Mechanical and material process systems
  • Team and project leadership experience
  • Strong focus on quality control

  • Preferred skills and qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or associated field
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot electromechanical systems
  • Experience with material handling machinery and equipment
  • Proficient with Research and Development procedures
  • Project and team management experience
  • Proficient with CAD software tools
  • PE Certification

  • Responsibilities
  • Candidate will work with several business units from across the globe to analyze, design, and develop solutions for various types of material handling and ancillary equipment.
  • Candidate shall be able to read, understand, and analyze existing mechanical drawings and capable of designing new or retrofit components if required.
  • Candidate will troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems requiring field work in Port and Intermodal facilities throughout North, Central, and South America.
  • Candidate shall possess a thorough knowledge of metallurgy and recommend materials for project use along with tolerances and safety requirements for such materials.
  • Candidate will create complete and comprehensive documentation for any system modification including bill of materials, drawings, test criteria, and required protections.
  • Adherence to company safety requirements, policies, and documentation
  • Excellent record keeping and communication skills are essential.
