This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite on Campus and remote.

DESCRIPTION

UCSD Department of Psychiatry is one of the most innovative and productive academic departments of psychiatry in the country with cutting-edge research and state-of-the-art clinical services. Under supervision, the Psychiatry Lab Assistant 2 will assist clinical research efforts on projects pertaining to parenting, psychopathology, and substance use with the Department of Psychiatry. Duties will include: assisting with data collection, maintaining calendars and scheduling events, assist with basic data manipulations, and collaborating with and supporting other lab members. General lab assistance duties may include maintaining equipment and supplies, and preparing data collection forms and various correspondence and assisting with literature searches and the preparation of scientific manuscripts. The incumbent will perform other project, miscellaneous tasks, and general lab assistance as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduation from high school or a GED and two (2) years of laboratory experience or two (2) years of college including courses in Psychology or related field and one (1) year of laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Previous experience in a research setting.

  • Proven effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population including children and their parents.

  • Strong basic computer skills such as word processing and data entry, as well as experienceusing Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Adobe PDF.

  • Experience performing research duties in a clinical research environment.

  • Working knowledge of longitudinal research design and methodology and DSM-IV/V criteria.

  • Experience using a reference manager (Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote).

  • Proven ability to assist with coding, entering, cleaning, organizing and verifying study data according to study protocol.

  • Demonstrated experience to assist with running participants through structured assessment protocols.

  • Proven ability to maintain professional phone and SMS contacts with participants in research studies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficiency in using software to manage or manipulate data (Microsoft Excel, SPSS, SAS, R, Python).
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check.
  • Work may be completed remotely, conditional on approval of the supervisor.
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and evenings as needed.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $44,662 - $52,513 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $21.39 - $25.15

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
