$19.78 - $21.99 per hour + benefits

JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Assistant Director of Business Affairs, the casual School Bus Driver will be called in when the current incumbent is unavailable. Their primary responsibility will be transporting students of various ages to and from their homes and their respective schools in a safe and effective manner. This individual will also be responsible for:

Following established routes and ensuring the established schedule is followed so passengers arrive at their destination on-time.

Maintain the health and safety of the students while transporting, loading, and unloading the students.

Assist students with boarding and exiting and while crossing the street while the bus is stopped.

Transport students on special excursions.

Ensure that all policies and procedures are followed while operating the vehicle.

Obey all rules and regulations of the Highway Traffic Act at all times.

Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.

Ensuring all students comply with safety regulations.

Communicating with schools and transportation services, as needed.

Regularly inspecting the bus for the upkeep and maintenance of seats, heating, and other equipment, and report any bus malfunctions or needed repairs.

Complete all necessary paperwork as required, such as, trip and mileage logs.

Adhere to and enforce bus safety rules and standards.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma

Possession of a Valid Driver’s License,

Ontario School Bus License Class B, is preferred

Minimum three (3) years’ safe driving experience.

Clean driver’s abstract.

Ability to read and interpret maps.

Excellent driving skills and habits.

Ability to remain attentive when faced with distractions and when sitting for an extended period of time.

First Aid and CPR considered an asset.
