New Glenn: This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-liftorbital launch vehicle capable ofroutinelycarrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar,and first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designedfrom the beginningto be human-capable.

As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will be responsible for the planning and execution of component and subassembly tests conducted in our supply base external to Blue Origin. The scope of this role includes managing development, qualification, and production test campaigns on various New Glenn spaceflight assemblies ranging from mechanical, actuated, hydraulic, cryogenic, and/or pneumatic systems. As a member of the external test team, you will travel to the test facilities to build relationships with vendors, witness and support test execution, ensure nominal operation, and troubleshoot off-nominal conditions and hardware. Other responsibilities include authoring and reviewing detailed test plans and procedures, performing test readiness reviews, conducting data reviews, and supporting the documentation and resolution of nonconformance's. You will work cross functionally with design engineering, procurement, program management, and others to successfully plan and execute component test campaigns conducted offsite, at Blue's suppliers or outside test facilities. This role will own delivery and maintenance of test fixtures, test support equipment, and data acquisition systems, and deliver results by leveraging support from tooling and equipment designers, procurement, and external test facilities as necessary to design and secure this hardware. As a member of the New Glenn Component Test organization, you will prioritize the safety of yourself and teammates above all else while maintaining relentlessly high quality standards and driving efficiency gains in your test campaigns. You will be an integral part of manufacturing, testing, and delivering safe, space-ready hardware for the New Glenn Launch Vehicle.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or other relevant field.
  • Minimum of 4+ years' experience in pressurized component or system level testing, including test planning, execution, and data review.
  • Advanced test engineering expertise with pneumatic, hydraulic, cryogenic, and/or similar systems.
  • Strong knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, actuators, servo-valves, flexible elements, and fittings.
  • Experience with sensors and instrumentation (pressure transducers, accelerometers, etc.), and data acquisition.
  • Experience with data acquisition and automated systems.
  • A dedication to safety, including experience working with hazardous pressurized or other relevant systems.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality in an aerospace or other relevant industry.
  • Ability to deliver results with minimal oversight.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to test sites across the country.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • 7+ years of applicable industry experience (launch vehicles, satellites, aircraft, motorsports, oil & gas).
  • Expert with data capture, analysis, processing, and reduction techniques.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in design, operation, testing, or production of pressurized (up to 6000 psi), cryogenic, pneumatic, and/or hydraulic systems.
  • Experience working with environmental, structural, and dynamic testing suppliers.
  • Expert with sensors and instrumentation (pressure transducers, accelerometers, etc.), and data acquisition.
  • Experience safely automating setups for long duration testing or to increase production throughput.
  • Experience taking components or systems through aerospace qualification programs.
  • Familiarity with precision clean hardware and systems.
  • Experience with Environmental Testing (proof, leak, vibration, thermal, etc.) per SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-1540 or MIL-STD-810.

Compensation range for on site WA applicants is $111,690-$156,366
