CARD is looking for motivated and energetic individuals to join our Adult Rec Sports team!

Under Supervision of the Adult Sports Recreation Coordinator, the Adult Sports Officials will work to maintain discipline and encourage fair play, while demonstrating courtesy, self-control and integrity with coaches, players, and spectators during sporting events. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 12 - 19 hours per week. Employees will receive 40 hours of sick time each year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: May include, but are not limited to, the following:

Enforce appropriate official rules and regulations.
Maintain knowledge of recreation and sports event rules and regulations.
Ensure that game courts, fields and equipment are in proper and safe playing condition.
Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other District employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities for this Job Class is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

EDUCATION/TRAINING: Enrolled high school student in good standing with valid work permit (16 years old minimum) or equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. One year of college-level coursework in recreation, sports administration/management, physical education, or a closely related field is desirable.

EXPERIENCE: Prior experience as a player, coach, or official is highly desirable

KNOWLEGE OF:

Basic knowledge of scoring techniques in seasonal sports.
Game rules in a variety of sports, such as volleyball.
Officiating techniques and methods of refereeing disputes

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: Possession of an appropriate driver license and/or reliable transportation. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate, and Standard First Aid Certificate may be required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Passing a background check is required prior to formal job offer.
