Responsibilities

Highlands Behavioral Health System is an 86 bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in Littleton, CO. Highlands features individual units for adolescents, adults, and seniors, and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs.

The Milieu Manager reports to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). The Primary function of Milieu Manager is to ensure patient safety through staff education, culture development, coaching, and direct management of the unit environment. The Milieu Manager assists the Nursing Managers and CNO with planning, oversight, and supervision of the Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) patient care role with the overall goal of facilitating the provision of continuous and safe patient care, observation, interaction and role modeling to patients. This position is responsible for managing the unit environment (milieu), providing program oversight and structure, conducting real-time education and coaching to BHTs, coordinating implementation of new processes, ensuring active treatment is occurring, ensuring the program schedule is followed, facilitating new hire orientation on-unit, and performing other duties related to nursing administrations. In collaboration with Nursing, the Milieu Manager is responsible for executing a strong staff training program along with regulatory required in-services to increase skill sets of the nursing department staff. Providing opportunities for the formal and informal growth and development of clinical and non-clinical staff while working closely with other members of the leadership team for process improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors degree in human services or teaching certificate preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of education focused on nursing, psychology, social service, medicine or related field or completion of EMT, CNA, Medical Assistant, Security Training program or equivalent preferred. At least one-year relevant experience preferred.
