Functional Description:

The Controller is a trusted partner of the CFO and executive leadership. They will have a proven record of leading an accounting team through growth, change, acquisitions and integrations of acquisitions as well as analytical experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, acquisition reporting and other ad hoc financial and systems analysis. In addition, the role will participate on projects to support new company initiatives, process improvement and automation. The Controller will report to the CFO and is responsible for the company’s accounting functions along with build out and management of a team.

We are seeking a well-rounded, experienced financial professional capable of delivering on the following results:

  1. Finance: Accurate and timely financials and reporting to senior management while overseeing financial operations and accounting.
  2. Analysis: Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting analyses including variance and profitability analysis and management reporting packages. Deliver meaningful financial reports including written analysis articulating key drivers and trends. Prepare budgets and forecasts.
  3. Strategy: Engage with the senior management team to understand the strategic plan and develop the tactical growth plan for the accounting function.
  4. Operations: Help to develop, measure, and manage metrics to drive business performance. Ensure appropriate infrastructure and business integration processes are in place to support continued growth and market expansion. Understand operational drivers of company margin and perform detailed analysis for monthly sales, contribution margins, OPEX and operational metrics (e.g., service tickets/hours, claims, etc.) by service line and for top customers. Interpret and communicate results to stakeholders.

Additional responsibilities include the following:

  • Complete month-end close for all subsidiaries with particular emphasis on refining current process in order to expedite close and financial reporting
  • Lead post-merger integration of accounting functions such as client billing and collections, A/P and payroll
  • Lead audit (external and internal) and tax compliance
  • Manage corporate compliance (monthly/quarterly/annual)
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with banks and report daily cash position
  • Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism which includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
  • Responsible for controls surrounding inventory and related inventory count procedures
  • Manage a team of professionals responsible for A/P, Billing, A/R, General Accounting and Payroll
  • Serve as technical GAAP accounting lead for the organization and partner with external auditors/consultants
  • Lead integration of all acquisitions, including closing/opening balance sheet work – partner with 3rd party valuation firm(s)
  • Serve as key member of ERP integration team. Partner with IT for interface of all other 3rd party applications into ERP (i.e. payroll, T&E, practice mgt system, EDI vendor ordering)
  • Assist CFO with monthly and quarterly financial reporting and compliance to lender, Board and other stakeholders.
  • Responsible for all Finance/Accounting internal controls/policies/procedures and partnering across functions to ensure key business policies are implemented and executed
  • Function as an effective member of the team, assisting co-workers as needed and learning from colleagues and supervisors; support the goals of the organization; demonstrate initiative in the interest of the company and its customers.

Required Skillset:

This position requires someone who is hard-working, can roll up their sleeves and take on a very broad scope of responsibilities to be successful. Also, we are looking for a candidate that’s a strong “people person,” possessing a low-ego, collaborative, and intellectually curious mindset. Fundamental attributes should include strong communication and listening skills, financial acumen, a thorough approach to the issues, managing to metrics and decision-making ability. The candidate should demonstrate reasoned and deliberate thought processes including analytical skills, operational understanding, discipline in budgeting and planning.

Additionally, the candidate must possess:

  • A minimum of 10+ years of financial leadership, at least 5 of which in a senior capacity. Experience in a services and repair industry preferred but not required.
  • High proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and MS Office suite required.
  • Experience with advanced data analytics and tools (Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.) preferred.
  • BA or BS degree and CPA is required with an advanced degree a plus.
  • Hands-on involvement with the business integration of financial systems and the optimization of operational analysis.
  • Track record of creating and implementing financial reporting procedures and metrics for an organization. Previous experience creating or significantly improving financial planning and forecasting.
  • Big 4/Public Accounting audit experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience of formalizing budgeting processes, analyzing variances of actual to budget, creating meaningful financial KPIs and dashboards.
  • A hands-on, detail-oriented professional with excellent analytical skills.
  • A team player with the self-confidence, presence, and consultative skills to positively influence the business.
  • A tenacious, operationally minded individual with a strong work ethic.
  • An orientation toward change management and process improvement initiatives.


Physical Requirements:

  • Office environment
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Ability to go up and down flights of steps.
  • Ability to traverse various areas of the facility (including unpaved areas, dirt paths, uneven terrain, etc.).

  • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example using a keyboard.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas using the spoken and written word so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Ability to use a visual display terminal with continuous wrist movement on a keyboard.
  • The ability to observe, identify, inspect details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • • Ability to hear within normal range.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time without assistance.
  • Limited travel for attendance of training or conferences.
