What you'll be doing...

You will join Verizon Consumer Group's Foundational Products team, which provides platform products leveraged across business groups to solve complex problems. Within that team, the platform product team provides a unified platform for business teams to build and deploy contextual and personalized experiences for customer journeys in all channels.

As a junior product owner, you will manage the product roadmap and delivery by working closely with users and Agile teams. You will leverage insights from data analytics and develop comprehensive solutions to complex business problems.

In this capacity, you will partner with multiple cross-functional business teams to identify requirements/opportunities, create and drive Jira stories, and own and drive product roadmap items to delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Working as a business product owner to Identify, describe, and document Product requirements and Capabilities to satisfy Business Use cases

  • Prioritizing and streamlining product requirements, roadmaps, timelines, and information needs required for product build.

  • Working closely with the Product Manager to execute on Product's vision and objectives.

  • Working to bridge the gap between IT and the business using data analytics and solutions architecture knowledge.

  • Working with IT teams and various ACT teams to groom user stories and implement use cases.

  • Data Gathering, Analysis, Sizing, and Valuation of data to fulfill various business requirements

  • Strategizing and planning user acceptance Testing, identifying defects, and following up with IT teams for defect fixes.

  • Documentation of product details and testing results to ensure business continuity

  • Planning and executing User Acceptance testing of the product delivery.

  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in data analysis. Continuously expand your knowledge and skills in data analytics techniques and tools.

Technical Skills:

  • Agile development and project management skills

  • Familiarity with tools like JIRA and Confluence

  • Data analysis using SQL and big data platforms like Teradata and Google Cloud Platforms

  • Work with legal, security, and privacy teams to ensure Legal/Security Compliance

  • Deliver data-driven recommendations and reports to executives and stakeholders*

  • Act as product SME in supporting the business requirements and product growth planning

  • Creation and Management of business metadata

  • Tableau or other Reporting tools

What we're looking for...

You enjoy defining, building, testing, and launching products and services. You work towards developing new methodologies and exploiting groundbreaking technologies to push our product and service portfolio even further. You're flexible and adaptable and have sophisticated influence and negotiation skills.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience in a telecommunications company, systems integration/solutions company, or IT team in a large corporation.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as Excel, SQL, Python, or R.

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.

  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Product owner experience or degree

  • Experience with CJCM, SQL, Google Big Query, and Insights into action

  • Analytical skills with the ability to independently determine key findings from complex data sets.

  • Experience partnering directly with development teams in an agile format to produce application capabilities required by the business.

  • Experience in data-driven root cause analysis for large-scale projects and/or cross-functional teams.

  • Systems thinking skills, including the ability to understand complex architectures and clearly communicate those architectures at both a technical and executive level.

  • Conflict resolution skills, with the ability to find areas of agreement, brainstorm solutions, and gain consensus and alignment on solutions.

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to build trust and influence business partners.

  • Experience with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience in product strategy, product life cycle management, or corporate IT support.

  • Proven track record in technology design and solution innovation.
