The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.



Position Summary


Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving at the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS), the Development Coordinator assumes all responsibilities for administrative, clerical, and event support for the Annual Giving Team. The Development Coordinator works collaboratively and in consultation with the Director of Annual Giving, the Marketing Specialist, and all Annual Giving Officers to ensure programs and projects are appropriately supported for development work.


The Development Coordinator helps project-manage direct mail campaigns, supports donor cultivation and stewardship projects and events, provides administrative support, and maintains data and reporting projects for the team. The incumbent must interface effectively and consistently with alumni, students, faculty, and staff. The incumbent maintains primary responsibility for supporting the annual giving team, and with the supervision of the Director, serves as a team liaison to the Engineering Development Council (EDC) and Engineering Parents Council.




Responsibilities


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:



  • Project manages direct mail projects (email, mail, phone, social) to target audiences

  • Helps track donor cultivation efforts with priority donor populations

  • Oversees gift tracking and database maintenance

  • Interfaces with alumni and students who serve as subjects and signatories for broad-based messaging campaigns

  • Assists in the planning and execution of events on campus, in NYC, and in other domestic and/or international regions for the Engineering Development Council and Engineering Parents Council

  • Prepares materials for the Engineering Development Council and Engineering Parents Council meetings

  • Supports the team on reporting and data analysis including running daily and weekly reports related to the school's annual giving numbers and goals

  • Supports the community of Annual Giving front line fundraisers, providing regular reports to help drive outreach and special Engineering projects, such as Columbia Giving Day, Pi Day, and Reunion

  • Updates and manages data in an accurate and timely manner

  • Assists the team in managing the GiveCampus platform for volunteer solicitation efforts

  • Serves as a liaison to the Engineering Senior Fund in collaboration with Engineering Alumni Relations

  • Supports the Director of Annual Giving in the management of the team's operations

  • Performs other related duties, projects, and strategic initiatives as assigned




Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required. A minimum of 0-2 years related experience.


Some evening and weekend work required.




Preferred Qualifications


Experience in executing direct marketing appeals through mail, email, and phone preferred. Basic quantitative analytical skills are preferred. Fluency using social media and design software preferred. Excel for data analysis skills strongly preferred. Understanding of the mission and purpose of institutions of higher education is strongly preferred.




Other Requirements


Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle confidential information with excellent judgment and discretion required. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work with diplomacy and efficiency in a high-demand, fast-pace environment essential. Familiarity with fundraising and the desire to advance in development and external relations is strongly preferred.


Demonstrated excellence in a variety of competencies including: teamwork, project management, problem solving, data thinking, and client/customer awareness. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including a high level of attention to detail and active listening skills as well as the ability to work with and understand data sets. Must possess the ability to work independently in a dynamic team environment. Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with a diverse group of colleagues. Must have a passion for excellent customer service, a refined attention to detail, and commitment to exceptional quality. Ability to use current desktop office technologies proficiently. High energy level, enthusiasm, flexibility required.
