The Sr. (Lead) Market Forecast Specialist for Market Forecasting and Analysis is responsible for developing market simulations and analyzing the results to provide greater foresight in market reform initiatives; performing system condition impact awareness; conducting special studies; and collaborating with the risk organization on enterprise risk mitigation initiatives. They will also be responsible for creating clear presentations and explaining the outcome to internal and external stakeholders. The Lead Market Forecast Specialist will also lead and identify simulation technologies to advance PJM market forecasting and analysis capability to support current and future PJM needs.Essential Functions:

  • Create new systems and predictive models for future market outcomes based on current and new PJM market rules
  • Possess a working knowledge of PJM current and new markets, and an understanding of the PJM Agreements and Tariffs.
  • Apply expertise in solving new and complex problems and develop innovative strategies to simulate potential outcomes
  • Maintain an exceptional level of customer focus.
  • Develop and deliver presentations on complex ideas to internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners to work on challenging problems
  • Develop user guides in order to automate the different market simulations with different applicable tools
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently in the performance of complex studies and analysis of issues
  • Support PJM Market Design process and evolution: data-driven, simulation based, etc. design and evolution
  • Support writing PJM papers, develop material for PJM board and internal/external forums

Characteristics and Qualifications:
Required:


  • BS degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science or equivalent work experience
  • At least 8 years of work experience Solving Energy Industry challenges utilizing basic and advanced analytical methods such as statistics, simulations, econometric models, machine learning algorithms, optimization formulations, etc.
  • Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Ability to use mathematical and electrical theory
  • Ability to troubleshoot and provide technical support

Preferred:

  • MBA degree
  • Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
  • Experience using PSS/e (power system analysis program)
