In order to qualify for a Federal Work-Study (FWS) job, a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be on file for the current award year and have eligible financial needs based on the college requirements. Please " href="" target="_blank">contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information prior to applying to a Federal Work-Study job.
  • FWS is a need-based, federally funded program.
  • FWS requires the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and confirmation of federal work-study eligibility as determined by the financial aid office.
  • FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program.
  • The FWS award amount is based on your FAFSA results and college funding availability, which will determine the number of hours available to work while supporting the students academic goals.

Essential Functions

80%- Assist new and continuing students with all aspects of the admissions, records, and registration functions. Supports Welcome Desk and Enrollment Center lobby with a strong focus on customer service, quick response times, and referrals to other related student service areas. Updates student records as required, following FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act) while adhering to any other applicable laws, policies, rules, or regulations

10% - Works in a team environment, attend meetings, provide functional support for A&R management team and may serve on committees or be assigned to document imaging records, or compose, edit and prepare correspondence.

5% - Assist with small group campus tours, including preparing materials and facilitating tours for new and prospective students

5% - Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current student at Glendale Community College
  • 2.5 GPA or higher


Desired Qualifications

A. One (1) or more years of experience working in student engagement/leadership, community service, volunteer work, or other extracurricular activities

B. One (1) or more years of experience providing front-line customer service

C. Experience using spreadsheets, databases or providing service through phone, email and chat
