The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a student employee to fill the role of Social Media and Program Assistant at Media Power Youth in Manchester, NH.

Media Power Youth, a Manchester-based nonprofit, is seeking a social media and Program Assistant to help us build communities of support for young people experiencing the joys and challenges of our media-driven world. Our mission is to inspire youth to engage with media in thoughtful and creative ways that support physical and mental well-being. We help children and teens become healthy communicators by providing learning experiences on social media, advocacy, filmmaking, music, STEAM, healthy relationships, environmental conservation, and other social issues impacted by technology use.

Applicants must have federal work study as part of their financial aid package.

Description of Duties:

As a Social Media and Program Assistant, you will assist in the creation and delivery of media literacy programs and online resources for youth, families, and teachers. Your duties will include:

  • Collaborate in the design of social media content, such as short videos, social posts, and email newsletters.
  • Support the facilitation of events and workshops (online and in-person)
  • Conduct online research on social media platforms, technology trends, youth culture, and positive youth development strategies to inform program development.
  • Assist in the curation of materials for experiential learning programs, such as identifying films, games, and music samples for group discussions.
  • Assist in program assessment, including collecting feedback from participants and making recommendations for program improvements.
  • Conduct outreach to schools, child-care centers, and youth-serving organizations to build awareness of our programs and the benefits of teaching youth media literacy skills.
  • Assist in administrative and operational tasks as needed to carry out the mission of Media Power Youth.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in SNHU degree program in a related field (e.g., marketing, event management, education, public health, nonprofit management, social entrepreneurship, psychology, or other relevant major).
  • Work study as part of financial aid package.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Prior experience leading clubs and/or teams.
  • Experience working directly with youth as part of an educational, recreational, and/or mentoring program.
  • Video production and creative writing skills a plus

Work Schedule:

Hours are flexible with the greatest need being after school from 2pm to 6pm. Occasional weekends/evenings to support educational programming.
