Job Summary
The College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment Office of Communications and Marketing is seeking a student to assist with social media and web content and develop press releases, announcements, and other materials as needed. This is a year-round student opportunity, offering a flexible schedule of up to 20 hours per week.
Essential Functions
Assist staff with website maintenance, updates, and content development.
Assist staff with event promotions, videography, and photography.
Conduct, document, and catalog interviews with faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
Develop stories, graphics, and write articles to promote the activities of alumni, students, and student organizations for print, web, and social media.
Assist staff and faculty with the content development, layout, and editing of printed materials, including brochures, advertising, flyers/posters, and other collateral materials.
Assist with the drafting of press releases and other media announcements as needed.
Assist with developing and maintaining media, peer institution, and industry-related contact lists.
Conduct market research studies and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled student at Auburn University.
Expectations:
Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities independently and on deadline is required.
Demonstrate maturity, professionalism, self-discipline, and attention to detail in their work and interactions.
Excellent writing skills, working knowledge of Associated Press and Chicago writing styles.
Preferred Qualifications
Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or Mass Communications major/minor student.
Specialized interest in translating the methods, impacts, and wider applications of scientific research for a wide variety of public audiences to interest, engage, and garner support in the college's research, academic, development, and outreach programs.
Freshman or sophomore-year candidate.
Experience with Microsoft and Adobe products, as well as WordPress.
