Job Summary

The Data Management Scientist will maintain, monitor, and support an integrated database management system for the Addiction Medicine Center, including REDCap database and extracted electronic health records for multiple research projects including clinical trials and registry data. The Data Management Scientist will oversee the development and use of data systems for health science research including clinical trials and observational studies with large amounts of data. The Data Management Specialist will also prepare data from multiple databases for statistical analysis by biostatisticians, and independently perform basic analyses.

Accountabilities

  • Design and develop databases for clinical trials and create systems that enable to provide real-time monitoring and analytics of trial progresses. - 30%
  • Develop and implement the latest security procedures and protocols for linking and storing related or unrelated diverse database platforms. \u00A0\u2013 10%
  • Formulate techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data. \u00A0- 10%
  • Support others in the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to legal and company standards and assist with reports and data extraction when needed. \u00A0\u2013 10%
  • Create rules and procedures for data transferring and sharing. \u00A0\u2013 10%
  • Monitor and analyze information and data systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them (new technologies, upgrades, etc.). \u2013 10%
  • Ensure digital databases and archives are protected from security breaches and data losses. \u00A0 \u2013 10%
  • Troubleshoot data-related problems and authorize maintenance or modifications. \u00A0\u2013 10%

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's Degree - Biostatistics, information systems, computer science, or related field
  • 2 years - Systems development and maintenance, technical support, support of complex database management systems

In Lieu Of

In Lieu of the education and experience requirements noted above, a Bachelor's Degree with 3 years of experience will be considered.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

  • CITI Cert-Collaborative Institute Training Initiative is required after hire

Knowledge, Skills or Abilities

  • Knowledge of multiple database management systems, concepts, design methodologies, computer operating systems, hardware platforms, and their compatibilities with database systems.
  • Knowledge of database structures, data security, systems integrity, data quality assessments, and developments of real-time monitoring and auditing activities for ongoing projects, especially funded clinical trials.
  • Ability to create databases using REDCap, extract data from EHR/EPIC, pool and link data from multiple sources, oversee data integrity and data fidelity, and integrate technical systems with study goals and objectives.
  • Ability to prepare and present technical and nontechnical reports in a clear and concise manner, and work concurrently on multiple projects with clear organizational skills across interdisciplinary team members, stakeholders and collaborators including clinician and EHR/EPIC analysts with different expertise to establish dynamic registry.

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Basic Computer Skills including data entry
  • Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
  • Proficient computer skills including word processing, database and spreadsheets
  • Mathematical skills
  • Statistical software (SAS, R, or SPSS)
