Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

The RN PAT Nurse role consists of overseeing the intake of a medical evaluations, assessments and/or or screens that are conducted before a patient is admitted to our surgery facility for a procedure. This testing helps assess the patient's overall health and identify any pre-existing conditions that might affect the course of treatment or surgery approval.

Some of the assessments we evaluate include but are, but not limted to:

Pre-surgery test screening/questions such as kidney, liver, and blood sugar tests
Screen patients for comorbidities
Chest x-ray to checks and requirements
BMI and weight screening
ECG Questions and requirements
Age and general health
Health risks discussions based on Medical Director communication
Communicate with surgeon office on clinical requirements for each patient
Provide pre op instruction to each patient

Please note before applying:

This role has little to no face to face patient contact and is primarily in an administrative setting in our centers. Our nurses screen and evaluate patients over the phone and provide instructions using the phone and/or through remote means.

Other Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for obtaining, organizing, assessing and coordinating each patient’s preoperative documentation and diagnostic testing prior to the patient’s surgery.
Ability to correlate clinical data with patient’s medical and nursing care.
Ability to set priorities.
Possess attention to detail with the ability to problem solve patient issues when they arise.
Ability to communicate well and clearly with patients, families, members of the healthcare team, physicians, physician offices and nurse managers.
Recognizes legal and policy limits of individual practice.
Screens each patient prior to surgery as acceptable candidates for ambulatory surgery.
Works closely with the physicians, physician offices, Nurse Managers, and patients ensuring the patient is prepared for Admission on the day of surgery.
Assist in PreOp and PACU as needed.
Responsible for the achievement of patient outcomes through implementation of critical pathways and in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the facility.

Qualifications:
High School diploma required
RN CA license required
1 + years’ experience as an RN in a critical care, ER or peri-operative setting
Triage Nurse or Admissions experience preferred
BLS certified
