Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Communications and Events Officer and in support of the Libraries' Exhibit Team, the Exhibits Coordinator provides general project management and coordination of the UCI Libraries' Exhibit Programs, working with curators and other Libraries employees throughout all stages of exhibit development. The coordinator serves as the main point of contact for exhibit-related planning. Working closely with Libraries' leadership and curatorial, Communications and Events, Development, Design Services, and Special Collections and Archives staff, this position facilitates the production, design, and promotion of both major exhibits and smaller-scale, library-wide exhibit programs. As part of the efforts to support the Libraries' main exhibit program, the coordinator will engage in proactive outreach to identify prospective exhibit topics, materials, and curators. The coordinator assists with exhibit openings and other library-wide or departmental outreach events, writing, and editing of other Communications and Events publications and communications. This position may also write exhibit copy and conduct research on library materials and topics in consultation with librarian/staff experts or curators. The expected annual salary range for this recruitment is $63,558.72 to $71,117.28 (step 6) within the full annual salary range $63,558.72 to $102,019.68. Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and early mornings for special events and meetings.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $30.44 - $48.86 (Hourly Rate). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $30.44 - $48.86 (Hourly Rate).

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Two to three years of experience working in a library or museum or related work experience in an exhibit program, arts, or graphic design.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and assignments at a time as well as prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely manner.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with office software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively and to promote teamwork, diversity, equality, and inclusiveness within UCI Libraries, the UCI campus, and local community.
  • Experience writing internal or external content (such as exhibit case copy, press releases, blogs, or promotional copy) and skills to communicate information clearly and consistently to a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent proofreading skills, preferably with knowledge of AP, Chicago Manual, or other professional style guides.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and to interact diplomatically with the public and diverse contingencies including among others, influential community leaders, university leadership, faculty, students, administrative personnel, and volunteer groups.
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of the team and adapt to changing priorities.


Preferred:
  • Experience coordinating or curating library and/or museum exhibits, including calendaring, curating displays, content development, or assisting library/museum staff or curators with such duties.
  • Experience with publication/graphics design and video production software and tools.
  • Working knowledge of webpage creation and maintenance using professional software and/or HTML programming.
  • Working knowledge of University of California policies and procedures.
  • Experience using KFS financial system.
