With a staff of 14,000, the Toronto Catholic is a dynamic school board and is seeking a Supervisor , Electrical Projects.

About the TCDSB Asset Management and Renewal Department

Our department is responsible for the stewardship of millions of dollars of construction that supports student learning and promotes student success. Our goal is to provide safe, sustainable and supportive environments for learning. We enhance learning and teaching environments for both students and staff at the TCDSB by upgrading the quality of all building systems and outdoor site conditions before they reach the end of their life cycles. Through the improvement of building systems and school sites, the Asset Management and Renewal Department plays a pivotal role in elevating the quality of educational spaces at Toronto Catholic District School Board’s elementary and secondary schools.

Many of our staff are licensed members of Professional Engineers Ontario and qualified Project Managers who strive to use their professional knowledge and experience daily to successfully execute over a hundred projects annually. We share our diverse experience in order to continually improve our project outcomes.

CRITERIA FOR AN INTERVIEW ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Minimum of a 3-year college diploma in electrical engineering, energy engineering, building technology, project management or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in construction administration and/or project management

Member of a professional association such as Professional Engineers Ontario, or Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists, etc. would be an asset

Ability to diagnose and advise on electrical, life safety, security and communication systems

Solid knowledge of electrical design and construction issues as related to educational facilities

Experience with energy management plans or programs

Thorough knowledge of consultant and construction contracts and tendering procedures, change order management, financial reporting and tracking

Excellent Technical/building knowledge of school/community center design and construction issues including relevant government regulations and codes

Work well under pressure and ability to meet tight deadlines

Excellent written, verbal communication and organizational skills

Proficiency with a range of current software programs and applications including Office 365 suite

Availability to work outside of core office hours, as required

Experience with ERPs is an asset (e.g. SAP, Workday etc.)

Knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act and CCDC2 contracts

Ability to work outside of core office hours as required

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to and under the direction of the Senior Manager, Assets Management and Renewal and as the Board’s representative/advocate for projects/programs, you are responsible for the timely delivery of multiple school facility electrical upgrade projects Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Develop and prepare work scopes related to facility upgrades for external consultants and teams

Support the Asset Management team in vetting project scopes of work and confirming project budget for the yearly Renewal Plan

Ensure the projects/programs meet with TCDSB Energy Management Plan and its goals/objectives

Support the Capital, Asset Management and Renewal Department in maintaining the Electrical and Communications Design

Monitor financial status, control project schedules on projects and manage multi-discipline projects within the Board’s yearly Electrical, Security, Life Safety, and Communications Improvement Programs

Ongoing communications with all levels of the Board including school communities/ administrators, school superintendents, principals and senior staff, and other stakeholders as required

Perform administrative duties related to School Renewal Projects/Programs including: preparing reports and studies; assessing, providing outreach to potential project proponents; utilizing internal management programs for the tracking and monitoring of projects and payments; tracking and monitoring project status; responding to requests for information internally and externally

Participate in the review and provide direction on contract documents for projects

Act as the Board representative, coordinate and attend project meetings with the users, project managers, consultants, and authorities having jurisdiction

Perform other duties as assigned or required

NOTE: This position requires travelling to TCDSB sites on regular basis. The incumbent must have their own vehicle available to use and a valid Ontario driver’s license (eligibility for mileage reimbursement).

Requires wearing of appropriate and current safety equipment (safety shoes, hard hat) for TCDSB construction sites.

The position may require call-out beyond regular work day/week schedule due to emergencies, or necessity to participate in a rotating call-out schedule.
