Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $19.33 - Midpoint: $24.18 (Hourly N5)




Department/Organization: 600181 - IA Development




Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm




Job Summary: The Accounting Assistant III maintains accurate financial records. Provides accounting and bookkeeping support. Assist University staff in understanding industry standards, current laws, and university policy as it relates to the financial affairs of the University. Provides guidance, trains, and/or may train entry-level Accounting Assistants.




Additional Department Summary: The Accounting Assistant III will, under limited supervision, perform a variety of specialized or technical accounting functions including properly recording all gifts and pledges made by donors to the Crimson Tide Foundation into the Paciolan system. These processes require the position holder to be able to resolve relatively complex issues and make judgements for appropriate action within established rules and IRS guidelines.




Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR associate's degree and two (2) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR bachelor's degree.




Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge in the areas of accounting/bookkeeping and non-profit advancement. Prefer experience in Intercollegiate Athletics, Higher Education or not-for-profit organization. Prefer degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field. Strong accounting and bookkeeping skills, verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills are preferred. Basic knowledge of the usage of personal computers and standard application software (word processing, spreadsheet and/or database management programs. Experience with Paciolan and Blackbaud is preferred.
