Overview:

Job Title: Safety & Quality Manager

Location: San Diego, CA

Type: FTE, 100% onsite

Pay Rate: $78,000 - $95,000

 

Trident Maritime Systems is seeking a dynamic Safety & Quality Manager to join our high-powered team! Position Overview

Summary/General Description of Jobs

  • Work to protect employee health and safety by making sure risks in the workplace are properly controlled.
  • Ensure compliance with all aspects of health and safety laws.
  • Inspects equipment, tools, and working conditions to ensure safety of workers.
  • Inspects safety belts, ladders, ropes, and tools and replaces those not meeting safety requirements.
  • Observes crews at work and reports violations in safety precautions.
  • Investigates accidents to determine causes and devises preventive measures.
  • Prepares various safety and mishap reports.
  • May instruct workers in use of safety equipment and safe work methods.
  • Conducts vessel, building and grounds surveys on periodic and regular basis to detect code violations, hazards, and incorrect work practices and procedures.
  • Manages Quality Management System.
  • Modify and/or create Quality Control standards to ensure required quality level of products is maintain and Client's requirements are met
  • Managing quality control of Trident’s orders manufactured by suppliers at various stages of production
  • Monitoring non-conformities issued during production stages suppliers as well as internal operations. Cooperation with other departments to eliminate Non- conformities and implementing corrective actions.
  • Report, collect, analyze information/documentation from suppliers and projects regarding Quality Control and supervision.
  • Recommend manufacturing, technology aids or steps of action to improve quality results during various project stages.
  • Performing Quality Inspection of products manufactured by Trident’s suppliers like Visual Inspection of fabricated parts, Inspection of welding process, review of documentation. Ensuring production was according to required 'standards.
  • Performing Audits on Supplier site or Trident Maritime Systems project site.
  • Cooperation with Quality Assurance department in implementing internal
  • Quality control and related procedure into Trident’s QMS system.
  • Supervising of Quality Control Personnel assign to project sites.
  • Supervising/Monitoring of registers like "Monitoring and Calibration Equipment","Non-Conforming Report Log" and Corrective Active Reports (CAR) Log.
  • Supervising/helping with preparation of Final Project documentation.
  • Creating of Inspection and Test Plans, Control Plans, etc.

Essential Duties & Job Functions

  • Executing of Quality Control inspections on site as agreed with the requirements on the project
  • Preparation/Supervising of inspection reports, NCR, Final project documentation
  • Supervising of Quality Control Personnel on project site
  • Cooperation with the Client or Client's production supervisors and third parties
  • Verify tests performance and reporting done by subcontractors.
  • Ensuring workers are provided with suitable protective equipment, such as eye goggles, ear protectors or appropriate types of gloves and clothing.
  • Keeping up to date with new legislation and health and safety standards.
  • Conduct Daily Safety Walk-Through Inspections with Shipyard Safety Inspectors.
  • Writing Daily Safety reports on results of inspections and investigations and completing detailed paperwork.
  • Providing training and educational support to employers and new/trainee employees.
  • Maintain occupational health and safety training matrix.
  • Performs administrative and record-keeping functions in support of the safety organization for the company.

Authorities and Limitations of Authority

 

  • Responsible for making decisions relative to project assigned.
  • Stop the work if work is not done according to requirements,
  • Indicating of corrective actions to be made, also by subcontractors.

Job Requirements

  • 5 years relevant postgraduate experience in quality control industrial operations.
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of work supervised.
  • Knowledge of technical documentation and ship classification society rules, as well as material, components and systems certifications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal safety regulations and job safety analysis required.
  • HAZMAT, CPR, and First Aid Training.
  • 10-HR OSHA Certified.
  • VSRA Permit Authorized Individual (PAI) Certified.
  • Maritime rules and regulations: OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, ANSI, EPA and State and Local regulations.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.
  • Knowledge NAVSEA/MSC/USCG Standard Items and 009-04.
  • Experience in ISO 9001:2015.
  • Experience in ISO Auditing System
  • Knowledge on technical documentation, ship classification society rules as well as material, components and system certificates.
