Working Title: Data and Systems Program Coordinator

Classification: Extension Program Associate 2 (8316A2), Civil Service

Appointment: Part-time, 75% time (30 hours/week)

Extension Area: Department of Family, Health and Wellbeing

Office Location: Eden Prairie Office

ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Department of Family, Health and Wellbeing is seeking a Coordinator that will support the data and systems for the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and Family Resiliency. This position works in cooperation with community-based Community Nutrition Educators, Family Resiliency educators, as well as the Applied Research and Evaluation Unit within the University of Minnesota Extension. General duties include supporting the ongoing development of data entry systems that include EFNEP's dietary recall application, programmatic databases for FR Seeds, and building staff capacity to use these systems. This position will be supervised by the EFNEP State Coordinator/APD.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Database Management 40%

  • Monitor system for data usage, crashes and other issues.
  • Follow up with UMN IT and Developers to resolve database issues as they arise.
  • Update forms or resources to reflect changes in the App and database .
  • Add content to data systems based on community needs and funder requirements.
  • Upload new content including different languages, as requested by states.

Technical Support 40%

  • Be available to answer questions on database issues and app usage.
  • Create a toolkit for states to use when adding a language including:
    • Job Description for a cultural guide to translate current app components and foods
    • Focus Group questions for the cultural guide to conduct with community members to find the most accurate translation and foods
    • App UI Components Guide
    • Audio Guide
    • Video Creation Guide, complete with scripts and templates
  • Support revisions of program resources as needed

Training 20%

  • Assist in the development of materials to train local staff and out-of-state leadership on using apps.
  • Contribute to the creation of an evaluation survey for users of App and database users.
  • Analyze feedback from survey to modify App and database components with programmers, and help with the delivery for rollout of updated tools.

Special Projects and Other Responsibilities as Assigned


Qualifications


Required Qualifications:

  • A related bachelor's degree and three (3) years relevant experience, or six (6) years of related experience.
  • Experience with delivering education via on-line delivery methods.
  • In depth understanding of the process of developing Apps and working with large software developers
  • Experience with understanding and supporting the development of large databases
  • Experience administering a health or nutrition-based education program.
  • Experience working with University of Minnesota Extension
  • Experience working with the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP)
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, organizing, problem solving, and successfully completing multiple tasks under pressure of deadline.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals, organizations, and/or communities (particularly those that use peer-based educators) representing new, culturally and economically diverse, and underserved audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project management experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license and own means of transportation with required liability insurance, to be utilized for travel.
  • When not in the assigned office location, employees must be reachable with a mobile number at the employee's own expense.
  • Must have reliable internet if/when working outside of assigned office location.
  • Must be able to travel within the designated communities and provide in-person programming.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including some evening and weekend hours to meet the program participant's needs and availability.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum weight of 30 lbs.
  • This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exceptional organizational skills, planning, and problem-solving.
  • Experience with training and facilitating in-person and on-line.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of individuals, including graduate students, administrative staff, educators, and faculty.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work independently with low to minimal supervision.
  • Experience overseeing grants or contracts, and/or enforcing budgetary and reporting requirements, financial policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
