The School of Veterinary Medicine is an internationally top-ranked veterinary school with a mission of teaching, research, and service benefiting animal, human, and environmental health. The School's Fiscal Administration unit is one of eleven major functional areas within the Vet Med Dean's Office and reports to the Executive Assistant Dean for Administration. The School includes approximately 25 organized units with approximately 2090 faculty and staff and 600 students. It has annual operating expenditures of approximately $300 million and many different funding sources, including State funds and tuition, Agricultural Experimentation funds, Cooperative Extension funds, Federal funds, private gifts and grants, State contracts, endowments, self-supporting funds, reserve funds, professional student fees, and course material fee funds.

The School of Veterinary Medicine Dean's office serves as the administrative arm for the School with 11 functional units including academic personnel, student admissions and programs, professional education, graduate education and research, advancement and communications, global programs, executive administration, information technology, facilities and safety, continuing education, and fiscal administration. The VMDO has a $20M budget and has 130 administrators and staff members.
